The Baja Divide route is well-marked on the new Baja Atlas maps!advrider - 3-10-2021 at 08:08 AM
Very cool, I've ridden most of it on a moto but would love to try it on a fat bike. With retirement in November I might just be able to swing it. I
would have to break it up into several rides with some rest days in between the miles. bajaric - 3-10-2021 at 08:52 AM
Not to hijack the thread, but the first part of the video shows them riding to Ojos Negros, I believe via the Compadre Trail. I would like to do
this, (in a truck) and am wondering if there are any places to stay in Ojos Negros.
I will be set up for boondocking but it is nice to have a room or a secure paid camp ground if one is available. Not much info is available on line.
Has anyone stayed in Ojos Negros?David K - 3-10-2021 at 08:58 AM
There is a campground on the Compadre Trail just north of where it meets the Ojos Negros-Laguna Hanson road. It has a suspension bridge across a
creek, which you can see on Google Earth. 31° 58.326'N, 116° 8.094'WAKgringo - 3-10-2021 at 10:07 AM
This would be such an incredible way to see Baja...
Thanks for posting this! I have never watched an over two hour You Tube video before, but I am glad I did.
I forwarded this to my son in Anchorage, who is an avid rider (bicycles). I have offered before to drive the "sag wagon" if he and one or two of his
friends want to experience The Divide, maybe this will trigger a trip.
I always saw myself someday having a sweet, small little dog to travel with me, but the one that picked me wound up being 90+ pounds. Try throwing
that on the back of a bike!motoged - 3-10-2021 at 11:03 AM

Bailey/Bay Lee/Whatshername has done parts of that Divide Trail already (from Mulege-San Raymundo- San Juanico-Los Comondus-San Isidro) and quite
enjoyed the luxury of the co-pilot seat in the Kia....
She is well-mannered and not yappy like a smaller pooch....plus she keeps military inspections down to a minimum.
Do you remember the guy and gal on bikes in the Ballena end of San Raymundo? David and I were ahead of you winding through deep sand and flood
flotsam and had been seeing bicycle tracks much of that day.....
I used to think bicycling Baja would be fun.....but the bonus of having 450 cc's between my legs is a much preferred method of 2-wheeled sandy hilly
rocky stuff.....that's for the kids with a dream.....and more stamina than common sense.
My longest youtube venture as well....

There is a camp ground and several hotels in Ojos Negros. Not sure of the name but we stayed at the last place as you leave going toward the gas
station, right on the main drag across the street from the Taco stand and store.
The other place we looked at was outside of town as you come in off of the compadre trail, a little more remote. You can use google street view
to find places. white whale - 3-17-2021 at 05:47 PM

The new Baja Atlas will be available this May. It will announced here and by distributors. I just did a final edit last week on them, including Coco's
new location. I won't know if they will use all my edits until I see the final product! Looking forward to its release in a few weeks.David K - 3-21-2021 at 10:55 AM
The Baja California Road and Recreation Atlas is coming from Benchmark Maps. I am encouraging them to make a wall map, as well.
Benchmark produces Atlas books for many U.S. states and this is their first one in the land we love to explore and vacation in.brewer - 3-21-2021 at 11:11 AM
Thank you David K. I'll look in the classifieds when it's available.white whale - 3-21-2021 at 12:08 PM
extra thanks + webpage screenshot that is somehow hidden from the main company page, no links to it. And try out screenshot feature I never knew
existed in Firefox. Double bonus.
