Indeed, Hwy. 3 as well but it has much less traffic. Hwy. 5 will be a great option to get south (or north) on race day!:light:

Looks like they will run from Mike's Sky Ranch out so maybe it will clean up the route.

interesting course

Bajaboy - 6-4-2021 at 08:12 PM

Just drove down to El Rosario tonight and there are a lot of pre-runners. My daughter geeked out when she saw the McMillan team truck.

Say hi to Antonio if you see him... we miss not hearing from him.

BajaBruno - 6-4-2021 at 11:09 PM

Granted, I am not familiar with the prior courses, but much of this one looks like it could be done in a Prius.

David K - 6-4-2021 at 11:22 PM

Only on the paved parts and maybe a bit where the road is graded. They really understood that in the summer heat (almost summer), it is good they stayed out of the desert side of the sierras. That used to be a real killer in past years. I ran a pit near San Felipe for the 500 in 1979.

Race Day!

Here is a short film from Cameron on pre-running the 500:

Just over the halfway point, the lead Trophy Trucks are:

1) Luke McMillin
2) Andy McMillin
3) Bryce Menzies
4) Larry Roeseler (Race Mile 250)
5) Tim Herbst
6) John T. Lenno
7) Tavo Vidosola

PaulW - 6-12-2021 at 08:24 PM

Very familiar list from previous SCORE races. Only one new name. The competition has to do much to catch up with the gang of achievers.

David K - 6-13-2021 at 07:52 AM

Looks like the McMillins, Luke and Andy came in 1st and 2nd.
Luke at 13hours 50minutes for the 464.5 mile course.
Andy at 13h 52m
Larry Roeseler was 3rd, 14h 20m
Tavo Vidosola was 4th, 14h 26m

These are possibly preliminary results.

Two racers got a penalty for failure to pass SPICA. What is that?

A binary star system in Virgo, and a South Korean girl band!

Looking forward to the Score answer!

What did you think about this [is this Andy or whoever was driving?] running over tents and cots because he took a wrong turn and didn't want to drive back a few feet!??

Edit: If there were little children taking a nap inside these... it is shocking. Racing is not a bloodsport.

Quoting Andy said he got a 30-minute penalty for passing multiple cars in a speed zone. He posted that on race-Dezert then took it down
Multiple videos on FB and I do know how to post them.

Luke drove thru the tent. https://youtu.be/XvAExU-ehtI
Probably not a penalty for that.

Nothing negative about Roeseler so far

Still waiting for official results.

It's a tracking device that the rider carries on his person and passes it to the next rider or driver I guess, I can only speak for motorcycles. If you don't pass it to the next rider you get penalized.
