ABC Bus

We left San Bartolo yesterday at 2:30 and made it to La Paz at 3:55. The north bound bus left at 4:00 and we actually got on it.
Not only that, we were expecting to take the Aguilla bus but were put on an ABC for the same price, 1,264 pesos to Tijuana. This was a new looking Volvo bus and it was quite comfortable with three tv screens located strategically.
The road was smooth the whole way although these drivers may know where to avoid any potholes rather than the potholes not actually being there:light:
We watched 3 movies, listened to 2 cd's, read half a book, stopped 3 times briefly for drinks and snacks, had to get off the bus twice for soldier stops, and had breakfast at Santa Isabel in San Quintin which is always good although pretty pricey nowadays.
Made it to Rosarito in 20 hours, 4 hours less than predicted on the Aguilla.
I recommend this trip as everyone was a blast including the drivers.
Here in Rosarito for 2 or 3 days and then back down south but driving this time.

I also enjoy that ride a lot, its not something you want to do very often, but you should try it at least once.

Mexican buses

Anyone who has the old notion about what a Mexican bus ride might be like should really try one of those new Volvo first class rides.
I travel often out of Mexico City to points South, would never consider renting a car or asking for someone to fetch me in a car.
The bus ride is sweeet.
(except that last December we rode from Puebla to D.F. and they showed Gigli on the t.v. screens, you wanted to open a window and puke about every three minutes during that piece of mierda)

It is basically only the newbies who see my posts that way.
As I have mentioned before, I don't start arguments, I just point out facts. If some take it personally, good!
Most on here know of what I do and have to offer. There are a very few who have a problem with it and you should see them :lol::lol::lol:
I'm in Rosarito fer a few days ( I can afford it here) and will try and post some good dung!

From time to time I take the bus from Loreto to Tijuana, very enjoyable, comfy seats, clean bus, good drivers and a chance to see the country side that I miss when I have to do the driving. It was 800 pesos one way last trip. Food was allowed on the bus.

I've always wondered what one of those mexican rockets was like. I have been amazed at how fast they go past me in some nasty areas. Those guys must really know the roads !

its 124 bucks u.s. one way?? man i dunno but for some reason that seems high. i always thought it was cHEaP TO RIDE the bus.

We pay $12 US to make the two hours from DF to Puebla, that is six bucks per hour.
JR paid $124 for 20 hours on board.
Six bucks an hour.
What a strange way to compute travel fares.
Maybe my computing capacity is just strange at this hour of the morning.

I plan to see if it's a good choice to take a bus to San Felipe. Does anyone here have any experance taking the Bus from the Calixico entrance. Easy, pain, whatever....

My wife's taken it a time or two - bus ride OK and they'll let you out a Ocotillo if you want and don't have any baggage in the basement. Getting to the bus terminal is the challenge, had to take a cab from the border.

She also has taken it to and from TJ. There is a bus there that picks you up right at the border and takes you to the ABC terminal. A bit easier there she said. She takes the Coaster train from Orange County to San Diego then the Trolly to the border.

If ever any of you guys take a trip to or from Mexicali to Tijuana, let me suggest you take Peninsula, by far, the most comfortable bus i have taken in all of Canada, Mexico, and the U.S., the seats are leather very similar to first class airplane seats, they have a bar, food, a hostess, and TV and everything, i really enjoy the trips, it will run you about 17 bucks one way.

I thought that it cost me around $125.00 DLLs. one way flight from La Paz to T.J., a year and change ago. Has it gone up that much?

Although, it sounds like the bus here is competing with mainland luxury liner type busses, still can't imagine paying on a bus what it cost me to fly. No matter how cuschie, it is a long time to be sitting, I would burn out for sure before I even got to Muleje and than I would have to pay for hotel and food, ect. I am only good for about six hours max and than I gotta get out and go do something different.


Last week I bought a ticket on sale to fly round trip from La Paz to Mexico City and back for $230.00 DLLs., for these days that is a good deal.
