I drove to squito in early June and the road was good then. Just a normal washboardy baja road.

Hi
Just got back from Punta San Francisquitos. Dirt Runway is open and marked at with numbers at both ends. The old paved runway looks broken up and is probably not useable. I only saw one Cabana that might be useable but I did not ask. There is junk cars broken everything laying around. They were closed for almost a year and are just getting started.
We stayed with Beto in the port and went out fishing and snorkeling in his boat. He has a couple of houses he rents out and also has camp sites with bathrooms.
We were only the second plane to land there in two months. We entered and exited Mexico through San Felipe. If you email Daniel there he will have all the paperwork ready. We were in and out in less then 30 minutes including fuel.

The Puerto San Francisquito (Beto's) website: www.puertosf.com
The following two images are from the website.
The view is looking south from Beto's on the cove to the Punta San Francisquito runway. The second image is the pier at Beto's beach.

I also took some photos when I was last there in Jan. 2017: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2017-baja-expedition-1-e...

Road from MX 1 is fast. It's graded and smooth. Last time we did it you could run 60mph on parts of it.

From BoLA it is a tiny bit rocky. But nothing bad at all.

JZ…. If’s you were driving a Dually truck & truck camper, how would you rate it?

JZ - 7-19-2021 at 04:53 PM

Coming in from MX 1 it would be fine.

A little bumpy and long from BoLA.

Beto's a good man. He once pulled a treble hook out of my thumb and I was ever so grateful. He had the anesthesia and scalpel and everything.

Never stayed at Beto's but hope to soon, Use to stay next door but It was pretty bad last time. His place looks amazing.

He has one cabin suitable for a couple and a house suitable for bikers with a large room with lots of cots
Camping on the beach is excellent. Bathroom with toilets and showers are a short walk. Did not check if the water was hot.
Fishing should be great based on the fish we saw from the pier.

We stayed in the house one time.

It fit 5 of us easily.

For those who have never been there, if you reach the gate in the top photo, you have already passed the office!

I did not go down to the beach, but car camped up by the office. That is where the shower and restrooms are, and they were well maintained. I still use an ice chest, and I was glad that I was able to get some ice from Beto, since there is no where else around there to get it.

?? I think not the gate in my photo...?
That gate is where you turn left off the road to the Punta San Francisquito runway and resort (1.0 mi). The gate is to keep cattle out, so close it behind you. The road forks beyond the gate. The left fork goes to Beto's home, 0.3 mi. Straight ahead goes to the beach (0.2 mi).

What are you going to believe.....

AKgringo - 7-21-2021 at 11:54 AM

Is it the six year old memory of a 74 year old Nomad, or the Google earth view PaulW posted?

I will withdraw my comment, because the aerial view does not match my memory. I actually came to Beto's camp from the beach side after visiting what was left of the resort there.

I found my way to the wrong side of the fenced off old trail, then had to back track to the airstrip and proceed to Beto's camp. I left there on the road that bypasses the beach resort.

David K - 7-21-2021 at 11:56 AM

Ha! Yes, if arriving by water, the office is before the gate! Have a super day, AK!
