Metz was such a surprise. We went for an afternoon. It was wonderful. Magical. Wow. I hope the photos give it some justice.
I have been thinking about how to describe the city, and really, the right words escape me ...the charm is the river, the buildings, the many people
mingling, the chocolate and the bells ringing wherever you go!
When in France OF COURSE one orders a cappuccino in a riverside Cafe!

Every block has many bakeries...so tempting and so no no no for this diabetic!
One of the go to spots is this closed farmer's market - so many cheeses! cold cuts! fish!
I thought it was ingenious that they put these metal signs in the sidewalk pointing to the historical or landmark coming up next.
Flowers everywhere - this pic was taken at one of the bridges crossing the Moselle River.
