We’re headed to SD to renew our DLs. I’ll post how that works out over the next few days.

Anyone out there know where this is?

I was there many years ago. They dammed off part of the main street with sand bags, added water and trout, then turned the kids loose for a "fish grab". Great small town fun.

Right in one!

I knew those pictures looked familiar!

I stopped in Afton last month on my fishing trip. Nice little town. Got some tips on some other creeks in the area to explore on my next adventure. Beautiful drive through Star Valley.

SD Drivers License Report.

It took about 2 hrs from start to finish to receive a new SD real id license. (Includes visit to America’s mailbox) The license is good for 5 years.

No appointment necessary. Very nice people about an hrs wait. Cost $30. Documents required:

Old DL
Passport
SS card or 1099 with a complete SS number on it
Receipt from hotel or campground showing one night’s stay in SD. With your SD address on it.
Receipt from mail forwarding service showing SD mailing and physical address. (Assuming you Full Time RV or live outside the US.) If you own an RV you can get SD Insurance for all your vehicles.

We use america’s mailbox for the mail forwarding and physical address. It takes an in-person visit to get this set up or it can be done in advance on line. Cost is a couple of hundred dollars a year plus forwarding costs.

America’s mailbox has an online how to do it for the paperwork.

SD has no State Income Tax and the total tax burden is low 7.1% (CA is 9.48%!) The sales tax is less than half of California’s!
