Gecko converted to leased lots and ended camping about 2006. However, there was mention that Doc was considering camping again. I am curious and hope
to hear what you find out.David K - 8-14-2021 at 09:44 PM

As mentioned, the host here (Doug) will move it to Q & A or where he wants.
In the future, you could copy your post, delete it in the wrong forum, and paste it in the right forum.
Also, if you typo (like JZ with Doug's name), there is an edit button!wilderone - 8-15-2021 at 06:47 AM
Years ago, I camped just beyond the Camp Gecko boundary (south - before the houses start). There was acceptable vehicle access to that spot,
otherwise the road skirts away from the bay and toward the private houses, and then deep sand. AKgringo - 8-15-2021 at 08:36 AM

I did not set up a camp, but I did find a nice spot to spend the night there, and that was just last year.mrioux - 8-15-2021 at 06:51 PM

There are Camp Gecko or near-to-Gecko Baja Nomads... they don't post often, but come back and check this thread if they do. Paulina - 8-16-2021 at 09:42 PM

Doc has some cabins on the beach that he's converted to vacation rentals. I don't know if he's open to truck camping. I'll ask him and find out.

Sweet. We'll swing by and check it out. I've driven past his place may times, but never popped in.

It was a really fun place for us Nomads and Amigos de Baja (before Baja Nomad) to camp, hang out with Internet friends, fish, and party (New Years Eve
always a great pot luck with Bedman's prime rib).
The campfire chats with tequila bottle being passed around, were the best! Stories shared from Mike Humfreville, Debra (Travelpearl), Bedman,
Pakoderm, TW, David A, Frank O (Soulpatch), Paulina, 4baja, GeoRock, and more!
Paulina tossed in some 'magic rocks' to add color to the campfire at Gecko...

It would be nice if Doc is able to revive the camping again. There are many who loved the camping, miss it, and would love to return to camping there
once again! V

So, you can't truck camp out on La Gringa anymore? Isn't that still open for camping? I haven't been there in years, but that's the only place we
ever went; tents, trucks, campers, motorhome, etc. advrider - 8-26-2021 at 07:33 AM
You still can, I think someone was just looking at other options? I've camped several times at La Gringa but would checkout campo Gecko for sure. Timinator - 8-26-2021 at 09:34 AM
I thought La Gringa was heaven on earth camping wise. Halibut in front, clams behind you, great breeze, great swimming. matthew_mangus - 9-11-2021 at 11:44 AM

I typically camp at La Gringa when visiting BOLA. I was last there in Nov '20 and Feb '21. Sometimes there's a few folks there. Sometimes it's just
me, the pelicans and rattlesnakes.
