We wish to pull a 1980 GMC K10 on a flatbed trailer to BCS.
All vehicles, the Ford tow pickup, the GMC K10 and the PJ flatbed trailer will be insured and have current registrations and titles. Tow pickup and
flatbed trailer are CA registered, GMC is South Dakota registration.
The GMC is going to be used for launching and retrieving the panga, destined to live out it's old age in Baja. It is a 6 cylinder inline 250 cu in
motor, estandard transmission, 4 x 4 with locking hubs. A capable truck to do the work and plenty beat up to leave at the ramp, windows down, no
worries.
Going the Otay route, will have ready all State issued registrations in hand, copies of those registrations too.
I know offroad guys tow pickups on trailers to Baja. But I remember reading on Talk Baja FB that some folks were having issues towing across a second
vehicle on trailers?

I don't have first-hand experience, but in fact, you are importing a vehicle into Mexico without going through the proper process.
If the Mex officials see it that way, you might have some problems.

You are right. I would love to import it but it is too new, too old. Do not see a way I can do it even using a Mexican citizen as the new owner and
importer.
Plan A is to pull it and if they turn us around no worries. I have been through the return gate at Otay before.
Plan B drive it to Guadalupe and pick it up with the trailer later.

I have a lot of first-hand experience crossing vehicles on trailers. Usually Jeeps or a Scout. No problem at all as long as you have the paperwork

Not a problem. I do this all the time. Many times I had to get in and start it to prove it was operational. They look at the trailered truck
registration and confirm it is your truck. Some times they compare the registration with the VIN number.
