TJ to Ensenada tolls: how many how much

It’s been a few years since I drove down the peninsula. We are planning on crossing TJ border about 4:00am. I like to have all the toll fares reasonably organized before travel. What is the cost of the fares these days, and how many booths are there? Any new information in the past few years that may be helpful to know? Thanks.

I just have an old pill container filled with quarters. I think you hit three on the way to Ensenada, if they are all open again. Usually about $2 at each.

Current fares for automobiles:

TJ to Ensenada: 124 pesos

Tijuana to Rosarito - 40 pesos
Rosarito to La Mision - 40 pesos
La Mision to Ensenada - 44 pesos

So each fare is 2 dollars plus a bit, depending on the exchange rate.

Paid 40 pesos at all 3 Tuesday Sept 30
But as indicated above Oct 1 will possibly change but not likely and if so not by much. Seems like since they built that road the total of all 3 booths has been around 2.40 dollars.

I can check the old AAA book, but I think in 1974, I paid (U.S.) .60, .80, and $1.20 at the three booths or $2.60 total. We teenagers often took the free road from Rosarito to La Misión or all the way to Ensenada to save the money!! Using only the cheapest section of the toll road but mostly to avoid Tijuana city traffic.

$2.60 in 1974 is equivalent to $27.63 today.

That figure is grossly inflated, pun intended. Your link shows inflation from 1913 to 2021. If 1974 is entered as the starting point then the current equivalent is $5.55.

$14.43 is the correct figure, I initially didn't notice that your 1913 starting figure was $1.00. I went back and entered $2.60 and also got $14.43. The webpage calculator is accurate, I have used it in the past.

Just pick out what you can use, and pass on the rest. I prefer too much over too little.

The interesting thing about the tolls is that you can pay either in dollars or in pesos, but not a combination of the two.

And if you pay in dollars, the change comes in pesos.

I think that with the toll fare, you receive some type of insurance for damage due to defects along the Mex 1 toll sections. You get a receipt (?), and it explains it on the back (?). It's been years since I paid the tolls - always go San Felipe now. Anyone confirm this?
