Edited to say that many folks informed me (and others) that this was not a random - drive into town and show off event - that it was a staged and
organized show by Gordon. I posted the video link shortly after it was showing on You Tube and the clarification of the situation was not available at
the time.
See subsequent comments further down for even more clarification.

I would like to think he was putting a show on for the locals? It looks like someone was giving him the all clear? Baja does love their racing but
still not sure if that was a good place to put one on? Would have been a fun ride... Can't wait to buy one of hid new SXS'S...

its all good so long as the youngsters don't try to emulate Robby! Howard - 11-11-2021 at 07:21 PM
What a POS!
People like that disgust me.
Hope he crashes during the race. (I don’t wish any injuries though)RFClark - 11-11-2021 at 07:48 PM
We left San Ignacio about 9:30 this morning. Lots of big trucks towing trailers full of tires headed south.
The picture is from about 3KM south of the HWY 5 turnoff around 13:30!

I bet the Goat is not going to approve of that driving style.😂mtgoat666 - 11-11-2021 at 09:16 PM
He's at La Mision tonight. He walked by us at the bar with his kid.

That is Robby-style. He is a true showman and has a huge fan base because of it, going back decades to a wide-open approach and some really huge jumps
in SoCal (and San Felipe) sand dunes. He is an extremely talented driver and always gives Baja races his all, preferring them even over the Indy 500.
He is loved by many if not most locals in Baja. Whether this was wise, of course, is subject to debate.
Pretty likely it would have also been at the approval/request of the San Ignacio authorities. Whether this was wise, of course, is subject to debate.
A Baja 1000 peninsula run is bigger than the Olympics or Super Bowl to Baja. For those who love it--enjoy! For those who dread it--will be over soon

There were other videos of other pre-runners arriving at the San Ignacio mission plaza and doing donuts there... I think it is really low class,
personally. Obviously, (some of) the locals enjoy it, otherwise they would put a stop to it? BajaRun - 11-12-2021 at 08:52 AM

pacsur - this has nothing to do with off road races, and vehicles per se. it's asinine behavior.pacificobob - 11-12-2021 at 10:06 AM

your statement is not accurate.
better to say that some mexicans love the races, some are ambivalent, and some dislike the races.
perhaps you find this hard to understand, eh? let me give you an example: some gringos like golf, some dont. (racing is like golf -- a stupid
pastime that some like and some dont )

Racedezert comments say the local cops were directing it and giving the "all clear" for the action. Appears Robby slowed right down at the end of it.
Any other motos or racers been asked to do wheelies or other "stunts" by both locals and local cops, or is it just me?
Appears this was pretty much staged by all involved.
Pre-planned and staged

If that is the case then I'll withdraw my criticism, mostly.

Formula 1 & Red Bull does the same thing when they come to town. advrider - 11-12-2021 at 01:06 PM
Almost every check point I've passed they have asked us to do a wheelie, when I do it on my 990 they are surprised! Sounds like the locals were in on
the fun and it was done safely by Mexican standards, LOL...
100X, what's your story, I'm a Baja rider not racer. I've even started to slow the ridding down to enjoy Baja even more. With retirement next week
I plan to make a lot more trips, Might even start running a chase truck for other ridders just for fun? Don Pisto - 11-12-2021 at 05:32 PM

good opportunity for a shout out to Sergio "checo" Perez for almost chasing down Lewis Hamilton last weeks Mexico city's F1! advrider - 11-12-2021 at 06:41 PM
If you still ride for fun maybe our paths will cross? I'm headed down on the moto in February sometime.

well you folks can think what you will but the great Larry Roeseler sure was happy to see Robby! how many racer's would have thrown the tow

Been coming down for the races since the early 70’s. They have always been a boost to the local economies, up and down the peninsula. Most folks
love the show and appreciate the diversion provided by the race and the race activities.
Unfortunately, there are folks that disrespect private property and/or common decency while attending the race.
Race participants provide “special” displays of speed and maneuvers for fans with the full endorsement of local officials and law enforcement.
The fans in San Ignacio truly enjoyed and cheated the spectacle in the square. Lots of cheering and sirens expressing support.
IMO, Baja California benefits greatly from this 54 year old activity.
Perfect Sense
NE14Baja - 11-19-2021 at 08:43 PM
Been coming to the races since the early 70’s. I have always found a great many residents of Baja to be supportive and in favor if the races. Baja
receives a tremendous amount of revenue and exposure from the off road races.
Unfortunately I have experience race fans that disrespect personal property and common decency etiquette with spectating. That poor behavior does not
warrant eliminating the races but rather better education, expectations and enforcement of fan behavior.
The show put on by the racers in San Ignacio square were endorsed and supported by local authorities and law enforcement.
Locals and spectators thoroughly enjoyed the show!
These displays may not be for everyone but they are enjoyed by many! It’s all good! 👍🏽wilderone - 11-20-2021 at 08:20 AM

Try to educate them, it won’t work, people don’t change.
If spectators and racers damage the land, land owners should prohibit the race on their land.NE14Baja - 11-20-2021 at 04:55 PM

I won’t preach to anyone, but I will provide you my opinion.Education starts at home. We teach our children how to behave and provide them standards
by which to live their lives.
I was taught by my parents what was right and what was wrong.
I will ask and offer to pay the property owner (rancher) for the right to access his property to watch the race. I have seen race fans tear down
fences that run along the race course. The actual road does not belong to the ranger but the fence and property behind the fence does.
I guess expecting folks to be respectful and conscientious is more than we choose to accept. 100X - 11-20-2021 at 10:15 PM
well you folks can think what you will but the great Larry Roeseler sure was happy to see Robby! how many racer's would have thrown the tow

Funny, many I suspect.
Our team pulled out a stuck Robby during pre-run.
We also pulled out a stuck Vildosola.
Unrelated, Vildosola stopped and gave fuel to a member of our team when his bike ran out.
Vildosola also stopped and asked me if I needed anything when I was waiting for same rider.
Another TT team fueled another member of our team in the middle of nowhere (I was heading in to help him but then didn't have to).
Robby stopped for Larry.
Larry, one of the nicest guys you would ever meet, would himself do anything for anyone.
I gave and got a number of thumbs ups to/from folks along the course, with me/them only proceeding upon getting one in return.
That is just one MC team's experience during one race!
Yeah, most I suspect!
