Returning to USA via ground after landing at TJ airport?

Santiago - 1-1-2022 at 08:32 AM

Currently, the requirement for flying from Mex to USA is a negative covid test no more than 24 hours. The hotel in Loreto will supply them. However, if we get a positive, then, presumably, we must quarantine until we get a negative test.
Time will not allow us to wait this out so we must either cancel the trip or come up with a work around. Is it possible to fly to SAN, rent a car and drive to TJ airport, take the Volaris flight to LTO and do the opposite on the return? Or do the same on the Volaris shuttle?
I'm assuming that driving into USA from Mex, the neg test is not required.
We are fully vaxed, if that makes any difference.

At TJ Airport you just walk across the border to the US. Then take an uber to the SD airport.

Obviously you don't want to be flying if you are Covid positive.

Use the CBX border crossing at TJ airport. Drops you right inside the terminal.

https://www.crossborderxpress.com/en/

You can Uber from SAN airport to CBX. Or there may be cheaper shuttles from SAN to CBX

P.s. if you got covid, you should not fly at all. Stay put until you are well, and don’t spread the disease by getting on a plane while contagious

If your schedule doesn't allow for the possibility of having to quarantine then you shouldn't be traveling. Domestically or internationally.

Sucks but such is the reality of the times we're living in.

ETA, there were health checks at the TJ airport back in September when we flew out of there.

There are taxis, UBER, Lyft etc between SAN and CBX/TIJ. It's about 15 minute ride and very easy. When you exit the CBX doors there is a patio with vendors of food and you can hail an UBER/Lyft or Taxi who arrive in a few minutes. When you buy your Loreto to TIJ Volaris ticket online add on the CBX ticket which is the cost to walk across the back hallway of the airport and pass INM which is quite simple, but you must have the ticket to scan at the CBX entry. Usually there is a person there with a printer who can find your ticket and print it..

Prior to CBX, the trolley and short bus ride from the SD airport was an efficient and inexpensive way to get to Tijuana. Just another option...

There are currently two common tests for COVID19, neither test for presence of the actual virus. The PCR RT which has been the most common has been officially withdrawn as of Dec 30 2021 because it is simply an amplifier of Genetic material, which can not detect any unique pathogen or viral load and will always trigger false positive when used above 30 cycle count (CT).

The tests produce arbitrary results depending on application and do not detect actual presence SARS2 Covid19.

The FDA PCR RT guidelines for use under Limitations, state may not detect a unique pathogen and may be any pathogen.

FDA PCR RT guidelines
https://www.fda.gov/media/134922/download

The PCR Polymerase chain reaction RT should never have been used, It's EUA for this pandemic has been officially withdrawn, and now is publicly admitted to be unable to detect or diagnose Covid19, just as its inventor, Nobel Prize winner Cary Mullis said very clear, notably Fauci used the same game plan to promote detection of AIDS to fraudulently sell AZT, which it can not do either.

EUA for PCR RT for diagnostic detection of SARS2 Covid19 withdrawn
https://www.cdc.gov/csels/dls/locs/2021/07-21-2021-lab-alert...

The antigen or serological test also detects genetic material, not the actual virus, all humans produce the genetic material as a response to toxins or stress and is commonly known as exosome.

EUA for all Serological/Antigen in vitro tests withdrawn
https://www.fda.gov/media/140351/download

There are currently no valid tests for SARS2 COVID19 since SARS2 is a partial RNA sequence computer model that could be found in anyone and there does not exist actual viral samples taken from a human of the virus shown to produce illness. There is no viral example to compare a human samples nor attribution to symptoms of illness.

All of the vaccines are promoted in absence of symptoms and no treatment is promoted in presence of symptoms except Remdesevir which results in higher than 50% mortality and prompts use of Ventilation which has higher than 80% mortality.

While in Mexico, doctors prescribe both prevention and treatment for colds and flu like symptoms and for those diagnosed with SARS2 COVID19, albeit arbitrarily.

Current recetas (Precription) for prevention and treatment include, Daily Vitamin, B, C, D, Magnesium, Zinc, Ivermectin 6 mg a day for 4 days and once a week, and medicine to reduce symptoms such as Theraflu, Benadryl, Robitussim, cough suppressor if needed.

Thank you for ringing in the new year with more of your ridiculously stupid advice! I now rest assured that 2022 will be just as stupid as 2021 since it appears that you people are still around spouting your ignorant nonsense.

Happy new year, paul!

We have come to the same conclusion.

BajaMama - 1-1-2022 at 11:56 AM

If you currently suspect that you have covid perhaps you should not be getting on a plane?

Santiago - 1-2-2022 at 09:31 AM

We are not trying to travel, knowing or suspecting we have covid.
We would like to be treated exactly the same as if we flew to SAN, rented a car, drove to Baja for 3 days, returned to SAN and flew home. In none of that activity would the governments of either country ever require a negative test, take our temp crossing either border, etc.

We can fly to the worst state in the USA for covid, spend the week there and fly back without any of these protocols. To make it even odder, Baja Sur is colored greed on WHO's map of infection rates, less than many states in US. We would be practicing better health policy if we go to Loreto than say, Miami.

We would have liked to take this trip under the same conditions, and it looks like we could have. We have since canceled, BTY.
I guess we will go to Tahoe and try not to get buried in an avalanche or mauled by a hungry bear.

wilderone - 1-3-2022 at 09:08 AM

"I guess we will go to Tahoe" Lots of road closures and backed up traffic. I read an article on Tahoe Daily Tribune about it taking 12 hours to drive from Reno to Stateline a couple days ago. Maybe that was a New Years crowd, but check anyway.

If you practice good hygiene, wear a mask, and stay up to date on vaccination, you should be able to safely go ahead and travel where you want… don’t lick door knobs, avoid being in close proximity to disease vectors, such vectors often recognizable as gringos sans mask (sometimes observed wearing red hats)

Worst case, you fly home late due to extended vacation for isolation….

Right now the roads are open, and in pretty good shape. There is another storm moving ashore in a few days, so things could get nasty again at the upper elevations.

Here is a link I use to check the travel conditions; https://dot.ca.gov/travel

We drove Bay Area to Reno on Tuesday December 28 - the only pass open was Highway 50. Took 14 hours. Everyone was headed to Tahoe, the traffic dissipated in South Lake Tahoe. Coming back via I-80 was the usual 3-1/2 hours.
