Which 2022 Polaris RZR?

G-Man - 1-8-2022 at 03:06 PM

2022 RZR Pro XP 4 Ultimate or 2022 RZR Turbo R 4 Ultimate…
Which of these 2?
And why?

Thanks!

JZ - 1-8-2022 at 03:22 PM

RZR Pro R. 4-seater.

I'm going to sell my 2021 RZR XP and buy one. I really made a mistake only buying a 2 seater. Not convenient for the dogs. The new Pro R's back seat folds down making the entire space flat and usable.

I’m considering the 2022 RZR Turbo R Ultimate 4 seater.
Living & using along Baja 🇲🇽
And possibly ordering through the Polaris Dealership in Mexicali, MX.
Any advantages/disadvantages of ordering/buying from the USA vs MX?

Any thoughts on having the increased width from 64” to 74”?

First thing that jumps to my mind is to make sure your trailer can handle the extra width. I don't think mine would.

Best width also depends on where you will be using it. Wider is nice but could be too wide for some trails, especially if also driving it say in the eastern US, or serious rock crawling. If it will be primarily used on Baja sandy roads, want it as close to the width of a normal truck as possible so it is not constantly "wallowing around" trying to fit in the two tracks.

There are a wide variety of SXS's out there. It really boils down to where you will ride and what you want to do with it.

Can Am really should be on your list also.
I love mine.

These rzrs are $30k new. If you want a small 4x4 to seat 4, take the dogs, etc., then get a jeep wrangler. Bonus: jeep has AC and does not have to be trailered.

Don't get a Jeep as goat has advised. Only someone that hasn't owned ether vehicle would dole out that advise. I'm a diehard jeep guy and have built some high-end rigs. If you want to drop a 100K in a jeep to make it keep up with a SXS, then have at it!
I have a very nice scrambler and a 2017 Polaris 1000 two seat non turbo, rock and trail model. Unless you are going to run the dunes a lot, I don't see the need for a turbo. I can hang with all of my turbo buddies everywhere but wide-open dunes.
My next SXS will be a four-seater so I can put the dogs and gear in the back. Would be nice to take other from time to time as well.

I was thinking about buying my daughter a Jeep last year. Fixing it up over time and taking it over 3-4 years down the line.

The price of even so-so used Jeeps is ridiculous right now. It would have felt like throwing money away.

Got her a 2020 Jetta instead and will upgrade my RZR to a 4-seater.

Pretty sure Jeep wasn’t an option in my original post.

A Jeep will not keep up and go everywhere a new RZR Pro R or Turbo R will… Not even close to the same performance capabilities. Unless, of course, you want to bury a chit ton of money into seriously upgrading a Jeep & even then a high performance Jeep would be a different animal - not really comparable.

Can Am was considered… 2022 Polaris Pro R and Turbo R suspension upgrades, etc, have them on a new level above.

It seems there is still a waiting/reservation list, with a $3,000 to $7500 non refundable deposit, for the 2021 (even though it’s 2022) models… Who really knows when someone would actually take delivery?

It doesn’t seem they are even offering the opportunity for a 2022 model.

No gracias!

I’ve decided on the 2022 RZR Turbo R 4 Ultímate.

It will be kept and used pretty much exclusively around San Felipe & throughout Baja.

Now just need to decide whether to buy/order through the Mexicali 🇲🇽 Polaris Dealership or through a USA 🇺🇸 Polaris Dealership… recommendations?

advrider - 1-22-2022 at 09:21 PM

You will love it! These rigs are amazing. I can't wait to get our RZR down to Baja for some exploring. There are a ton of areas around SF that would be fun to checkout.

Can't give you advice on that. But I want to see pics of it!

yes you will enjoy. my joy in life is Baja Dirt Bike. I do enjoy my YXZ1000r after one too many . Dirt Bike Rides easy to drive 4 wheels to suggest buy jeep. Is clearly from someone knows nothing off road. They all have there place but the 4 wheel sxs take to next enjoyment. About extra width and long wheel base. You like open desert no worry on width and long WB. I tend to drive mine on tight trail being a bike rider. So the short width and wb is for me.

After I figure out whether to order from Mexicali 🇲🇽 or USA 🇺🇸, get it ordered, and take delivery in June_ I will be able to get a real photo.

I agree with the general trend of comments here. A jeep is not a buggy and they will have totally different uses. I live on the East Cape and I use my buggy quite a bit. We have an old 4runner for when we want a car and a buggy for fun. Ours is a 4 year old CanAm Maverick X3 max. I love the wide and long wheel base for driving on the dirt roads. I have spent a fair amount of time in RZR's fo the same vintage as well and I really like the wider and longer stance of the CanAm. It just feels more stable. However, I don't drive on any narrow trails. It is important that you decide what is your predominant use. They are all fun. Most of the time, we are just 2 people in our 4 seater, but I like the log wheel base for the ride comfort. my $.02
