I'm going to be doing a little excursion through Baja soon with a friend. We're leaving on 4/21 and returning 5/14 ... three weeks total. We're both
young (early 20's).
We'll be driving my Toyota Tacoma 4x4, which is set up for mild off-roading (31" 6ply AT tires, hi-lift jack w/ recovery gear). We're taking snorkel
gear (including underwater digital camera and spear gun) and fishing gear (including a fly-rod and fly tying stuff).
We're planning on driving down to either Punta Chivato or Conception, and then exploring from there. We're also planning on doing a little surfing at
Scorpion Bay (it will be my first time surfing).
Can anyone suggest any cool sites to see or cool camping spots that we should check out? We might not have a boat, so we're kinda looking for places
with good fishing and snorkeling right off of the beach. Any suggestions would be great!!

For what you describe: 1) Bahia Concepcion, just south of Mulege... besides the many nice beaches along Mex. 1, there is a dirt road on the other side
that follows the shore and then crosses over to the gulf side, that ends at an abandoned manganese mine near the north point. 2) Punta San
Francisquito, Bahia San Rafael, Bahia las Animas, and Bahia de los Angeles... are all off the graded dirt road that leaves Mex. 1 about 7 miles north
of Vizcaino, goes through Guillermo Prieto and crosses the road to Mision Santa Gertrudis (just a few miles side trip) before joining the El Arco/San
Francisquito road (at Arroyo Purificacion on the AAA map and Baja Almanac). You can visit Mision San Borja after you leave Bahia de los Angeles (which
has all supplies and ice)... on your way back home.
See my Index page to look at various places http://community-2.webtv.net/drdrip/index and Bahia las Animas is at http://vivabaja.com/704 I have not been to the other side of Concepcion, but it sounds like a good destination for what you seek.
Still fairly pristine...

Consider taking the road south from San Nicolas to Punta San Antonio and Punta Pulpito. Excellent snorkeling at both locations. The road isn't bad,
and I have never seen anyone but locals in the water there. It feel VERY remote while still being within about 70 miles of an International Airport.
Looking across the bay between the two points...
