There were times in the past (say 7-15 years ago) where Aduana would sometimes ask for the original title to qualify for the Mexican mainland TIP, but
I haven't heard of anyone needing it since then. Simple registration has been fine.
Many of us still remember the admonition we were told, possibly in driver's education school, about NEVER traveling with your original "pink slip"
(yes, I learned to drive in California) as someone could theoretically obtain possession of it and sign it over to themselves. I never heard of it
happening.......but that admonition still reverberates through the hollows of my brain in old age. |
