Rest in Peace, Alex DePue...

It is with great sadness I pass along the terrible news that Alex DePue, AKA "The Fiddler," was killed in a car accident in Mexico on January 27, 2022.

Alex was a World-class Musician. He was a Member of the famous DePue Brothers Band out of Bowling Green, Ohio, and was classically trained on violin from a young age. At 14, he won the rights to play at Carnegie Hall.

I first met Alex when he and his musical partner, Miguel De Hoyos, kindly accepted my invitation to headline our Jammin' For The Animals fund raiser held at La Canada Del Diablo on January 23, 2009 in Todos Santos. It was a "Standing Room Only" packed house that day, and the music could not have been better or ever forgotten.

Alex was 49, and is survived by his newly-wed wife of nine months, Aria Curzon DePue, as well as his father Wallace, and brothers Wallace Jr, Jason and Zachary.

I'm still looking for the videos we took at the event but that was several computers, cameras and cell phones ago. As I find them, I'll post them here and invite you to do the same.

In the meantime, here are some photos I took that day at the Jammin' event, and links to some of the wonderful music produced by Alex and Friends:

"The day we were married, surrounded by so much love. I will love you forever, my sweet Alexander. Nothing about that has or will ever change. Thank you all for your support, and love during this most heartaching, horrendous time. With Love, Mrs. DePue., "Alex's Aria". Always.

I had no idea how talented he was. An even bigger loss to the world. DEP.

Apparently it was a heart attack that led to the car crash according to his brother Zachary.

Here is a thread about Alex from 2009:
