Hi all,
We just returned from Baja and because of the rains, we saw many new plants. Does anyone recommend a reasonalby priced book that covers the flora of
Baja?

I am sure it was less than $20 and I think I got it from Vagabundos del Mar.
Where exactly were you? We are leaving for Bahia on Thursday morning.

Thanks for the information - that's the only one I've seen, and I was hoping to do a comparison or two. Correction, I did see one more, but is was
about $300 CDN!
We did the whole length of the peninsula taking side trips from Mex 1, Tecate to Cabo, but the wonderful flowers were mostly from Guerrero Negro
north. We came home that way in early March.

http://www.bajabooksandmaps.com is our own Nomad 'BajaJudy's' business... You can order it there... ships from Colorado, USA. That is THE book to
have in your vehicle while in Baja... The Baja Reptile book is also recommended!

I admit that there is a copy of Baja California Plant Field Guide on my nightstand!
Here is a growing list of Baja field guides and natural history books:

I heard rumor that either the Roberts book was getting redone, or there was another book in the works. Anybody know something about this?

I don't have any info on future editions of this book, but here's a brief rundown of its past. A Field Guide to the Common and Interesting Plants of
Baja California, by Jeanette Coyle and Norman Roberts, was published in 1975. Norman was actually the senior author as well as the publisher, but he
and Ms. Coyle were very good friends and he's a nice guy.
Baja California Plant Field Guide was published in 1989, with Norman as sole author. This revised edition is a much better book, and the pictures make
it indispensable for anyone who's interested in identifying peninsular plants. It's available at many bookstores, and used copies are often sold at
Alibris at very reasonable prices.
