Antalya day trip

We went to Antalya for a couple hours yesterday. It is a 2 hour drive from Alanya where we live and it is a huge city with an international airport.

We dropped off our rental car at the airport and took a cab to Old Town. The rest of the city seems to be like any other city - we wanted to see the older neighborhood.

The coast is really beautiful, and the 1st call of the day was to have coffee above the harbor.

Part of the restaurant was this glassed in area showing some ruins, probably found when they started digging to build.

Then we roamed the ancient alleyways. Small shops interspersed with restaurants and hotels.

Frida seems to be so popular everywhere!

I think it ingenious that they painted the gas cylinder!

We ended up at Hadrian's gate!

The ruts from all the carriages that traveled over it.

After Istanbul. I think Antalya has the most foreigners living there. The Old town was really charming with really ancient buildings and Turks drinking tea together while waiting for customers.

We took a bus home that cost 50 lira each and took 2 hours 20 minutes. The main bus station is a 10 min walk from our apartment. At 13 lira to the dollar, this was a great deal!

I hope you enjoyed the little trip. Gule Gule (bye bye)

Cool, thanks Blanca. That stone street with the carriage ruts is interesting.
