Recent Rains in Cataviña?

smacafee - 3-2-2022 at 05:17 PM

Hey all,

I'm trying to figure out if it has rained at all in the Cataviña region this fall/winter (2021/2022). Do you know of any tools which show historical weather data for anywhere on the peninsula, especially any precipitation focused resources? If so please let me know!

Just type into Google, weather history in Cataviña. I just did and bam, it's there!

I've looked through several of those and none of them show accumulated rainfall (in Cataviña or anywhere else). Did you see one with this information?

Probably your google is broken. I did exactly what David K suggested and - yes, daily accumulated rainfall in mm. Mostly, no rain.

There is a govt met station behind the mission hotel, it is linked to satellite. If you hunt around the weather data sites, you can find the data such as daily precip.

Sorry that I didn't post the link or data here. I am on my phone tonight. Maybe another Nomad can?

It's not on the largest aggregation of weather stations that I know of; Weather Underground. There is a station that appears and disappears well north of there that is ESE of El Rosario. But many miles from Catavina.

Found the "disappearing" station on the overall Wundermap. It's called Huertita. Maybe 100-125 miles north of Catavina. Only at 750 foot elevation, so much different than Catavina.

Disappearing mystery solved. The station is only online from about 0630-2230 each day.

No where near the detailed information of a weather station on Weather Underground. I also have my doubts that this station has been generating data since 2009.

In fact, it looks like "historical" data is simply an estimate of past averages. Nothing empirical.

Unless you want to "buy historical weather data".
