Google Street View is awesome

aburruss - 4-23-2022 at 08:50 PM

I was trying to find a location from the NORRA Mexican 1000 Race in 2016. I have a photo of ME, and wasn't exactly sure where it was taken (my super expensive digital camera didn't record GPS location *sigh*)... But I knew the GENERAL area that I *thought* the photo was taken. And lo and behold... I found the same dilapidated greenhouse in the background... technology is awesome! Picture 1: Me. Picture 2: Google Street view.

Can anyone identify this location?? :)

For a couple of years, "street view" in front of my house in Anchorage displayed me welding on a utility trailer in my driveway!

Along the side of Mex 1 just south of the town of Rosarito (or Nuevo Rosarito) mid way between LA Bay jct and Guerrero Negro. The little town also has a sign for the dirt road to Mission San Borja.

Back in 2008 Google Street View snapped this photo of my wife and our old dog Bonita waiting patiently for the light to change.

It may still be available; on my version the upper left corner has a (subtle) little clock which you can open up and crank back to see historical versions.

At the time that I disappeared from street view, I tried going back to a prior version to see if I was still there. It worked for the ariel view of my property (the dead boat was still in my back yard) but whether I opened up in street view, or rotated down to it, it would revert to the most recent drive by.

It might be different in other locations, but that is what happened in my Anchorage neighborhood.
