Thanks for posting. Really fun to look at the old maps. I wish my eyesight was better! I did not realize so many f the places were named back then, prior to much exploration. Very interesting that they have Isla Angel de la Guarda located so far north, and that the canal de ballenas was already named.

To help looking at the map details better... make sure you have clicked on the map for maximum enlargement (some have two levels of zoom, so click twice). Next, press and hold down the control (Ctrl) key and press the + key to zoom in more.
The 1747 map from Consag shows when many places along the upper gulf got named, like Bahía San Luis Gonzaga.
I will be adding a map from 1900 soon that shows trails and details of the southern 2/3 of Baja.
