Went down Saturday, seven minutes at the La Playa toll and a 5 minutes at Rosarito--This on top of 25 minutes to get into Baja. This is NOT progress.

for your vehicle.
Same thing as Speed Pass for U.S. toll roads, except that if you put enough money down (roughly $50) you get a discount.
I may be ruining a good thing, but I always giggle when I see twenty or more cars lined up at the manned toll booths on heavy days and we sail by
through the far right hand lane, especially when the vehicles left behind are the speeding, swerving, arrogant tailgating a**h***** who roared by us
earlier.Dave - 4-5-2005 at 08:18 PM
The problem is that they didn't extend widening the lanes approaching the booths. As usual, someone didn't quite think this through. Typical.Dave - 4-5-2005 at 08:30 PM

Yeah, but that only works if you can maneuver right to pass all the traffic. Hard to do when it's two lane with no shoulder.surfer jim - 4-6-2005 at 09:04 AM
About every 5 years they keep building new toll booths ....but still the same results...slow backed up traffic and narrow openings for those who are
towing trailers...and never enough manpower ...(or parking for the facilities).....I love it....Baja Bernie - 4-6-2005 at 09:51 AM
This is on par with always repairing the Border Fence Road in the Summer (always). Government PLANNING is not why I love Baja.Dave - 4-6-2005 at 10:10 AM
Questions, Jesse?:
Why did they move them in the first place?
Is it because they needed to replace/upgrade them (again, why?) and decided to just rebuild at a different location, or was this to tie in with the
new bypass around TJ? And if so, why didn't they build the Rosarito gates where the two roads meet instead of two miles north?
And what about the Playas gates? Why did they move them?elgatoloco - 4-6-2005 at 10:32 AM
Why rebuild
I had heard that the Rosarito one was moved to allevaite the bottleneck/traffic jam at the AM/PM station.
Is there an election coming soon? Things seem to get done around election time.
The engineering is definitely half assed and as a Llave card holder I WILL be passing along my displeasure to the friendly gal that works the ofice at
the booth.
I am sure she will fax my complaint straight to the Meixico City offices and we can all expect a rapid response.
Having said that the Llave card is a nice convenience for frequent use, although it did eliminate that time honored Baja experience of checking the
floor boards and between the seats for loose change. When I was 16 and driving down I think the toll was twenty cents?
