CDC warning about travel to Mexico

pauldavidmena - 6-16-2022 at 11:07 AM

Citing increased infection rates, the CDC just increased its warning level for Mexico from 2 to 3, recommending that unvaccinated Americans stay home. Interestingly, the CDC mentions nothing about the fact that infection rates vary widely from state to state in Mexico (just as they do in the U.S.).

My son, who is a Orthopedic Surgeon in Hermosillo, told me today that seven other doctors in his hospital contracted the virus. The surge is on and I'm wearing my mask again.

Here on Cape Cod, everyone is "done" with COVID, but is COVID done with us?

My wife and I are still being selective about our public outings, and both of us just got our second round of boosters. We've also stocked up on at-home testis so that we can have some piece of mind between adventures. We're trying to live our lives without endangering the lives of others. What a concept!

Just checked the CDC website. There are 115 countries on the same list as Mexico.

Canada, Germany, France, the UK, Australia, and on and on....even Liechtenstein! :D

Does anyone believe anything the CDC says at this point??

They let the teachers' unions draft the Covid return to school guidelines. What do political unions know about science?

The CDC is infected with politics and that is really sad.

Apparently you are incapable of looking in the mirror. Wrt covid (and many other things), you are unhinged, rabid, political zealot.

Cdc does great work. Too bad you are blind and cannot see it.

Yep, Americans should be really careful about travelling to other countries, ignoring their own escalating rate of cases. And of the 9.5 % of areas in the US with a high rate of transmission, the only place where almost the entire state is rated as high is Florida, where JZ's hero is in charge, surprise, surprise.

At least you have a much better chance of not being the victim of a mass shooting if you get the flock out of the US.

Statistically, what are the chances of being the victim of a mass shooting in the U.S.?

Your chances of being a victim of a mass shooting in usa is higher than any other developed country in the world.

Usa is #1! Be proud!

Interesting that Cuba is not on the list. Turkey (Turkiye) has lifted all mask wearing and tells us we are OK. We do not hear much about anyone around us getting sick but LOTS of Brits have gotten seriously ill in their own country.

It will be so nice when none of this is even a topic of discussion!

Well, Cuba has a low Covid risk now.

And they have an over 88% vaccination rate.

We'll have to live with this for a long time.
Hospitalizations are on the rise in the US, though still lower than during this horrible wave of Jan 2022. This marker looks more informative to me than daily cases - you can miss mild cases, might not even know that you got it, but can't "miss" hospitalization.

I couldn't find any graphics for hospitalizations in Mexico or Baja, only percentage of hospitalizations relatively to confirmed cases. Though cases are on the rise on both Baja's, especially in Baja Sur.
