I did not renounce my US citizenship.
Yes, I have 2 passports and usually travel on the Mexican one.
Cuba, Colombia, Spain, BVI.

I was naturalized about 15 years ago. I was never asked to renounce my US citizenship. I was told by the processor to never use my US passport
returning to Mexico. He told me it's a major nono and you could risk your Mexican citizenship.
I always travel with both passports. I use the US pp for entry into the US and my Mex for most everywhere else.

I think the following says you can renounce your US citizenship only if you appear in front of the proper US authority:
==================
B. ELEMENTS OF RENUNCIATION
A person wishing to renounce his or her U.S. citizenship must voluntarily and with intent to relinquish U.S. citizenship:
appear in person before a U.S. consular or diplomatic officer,
in a foreign country at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate; and
sign an oath of renunciation
Renunciations abroad that do not meet the conditions described above have no legal effect.

I think the following says you can renounce your US citizenship only if you appear in front of the proper US authority:
That has always been my understanding under current U.S. law; renouncing one's U.S. citizenship to Mexican authorities does not
currently mean that the U.S. government gives a whack about that declaration.
My doubt has always been whether declaring such to the Mexican authorities-- as my above post indicates that people may be doing
unbeknownst among all their other naturalization paperwork and thus the original question-- could at some future point give U.S. authorities
unanticipated leverage.
If you are fearful of giving up usa citizenship, then you are not confident about choosing to be Mexican, eh? chippy - 7-4-2022 at 04:04 PM
