I met an American 43 year old who retired herself at 41, sold her house in the USA and has since traveled non-stop around the world. Never married,
no kids and financially savvy and decided to stop in Alanya for 2 months. I met her on her second day here, so we went to the Alanya castle together.
It is a huge climb but we did it with sweat just pouring off our faces. Temps have been in the 90's.
Some information on the history - castle built in 13th Century.
Very interesting that there was both a church and a mosque - the original mosque is fallen but there is a newer one that is used for prayers.

The mosque is not so pretty so I won't post photos but they have skirts and head covering outside for women to put on and of course, no shoes allowed
inside.
That is our beach! Called Kleopatra Beach since she went swimming in it way back in the day. Our apartment is at the closest end you see.
What most amazed me is the collection of Chinese tiles. Who brought them all this way? Here is some info on Marco Polo - could it have been he?
Marco Emilio Polo was a Venetian merchant, explorer and writer who travelled through Asia along the Silk Road between 1271 and 1295.

There are small cemetaries scattereed around the Castle area.
Here I am in front of an arch - not sure if there is some special significance to it or not, but exquisite pure white marble is the stone most
prevalent all over Turkiye.
I have only seen about 1/3 of the Castle premises, it is HUGE. Every time we get a visitor, I try to visit a different section. For another time,
there are older trditional houses to go to that I have not seen yet.
Mini vacation over! Tomorrow I am taking Cris to a traditionakl Turkish breakfast - wait for it!
