Cabo for a day? Chileno Beach?

I think I want to do a week cruise, which has a port stop in Cabo. Not really my kinda town, but there are shore excursions to Chileno Beach with lunch, etc. (which I'm thinking I can do on my own - a taxi?) Online says "Many boat tours do run from the San Lucas marina" or is Santa Maria beach better? So what do you think would be the taxi fare, and is this beach worth it, or otherwise, what else is there to do for 6 hours? Are there kiosks with daytrips offered right near the cruise port where I might make a quick choice? Don't want to spend a lot of money.

Just don't miss getting back on the boat when it pulls out of port! Have fun!!

Ha! I pulled the trigger - I'm booked! Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta too.

Santa Maria is gorgeous. Chileno is very nice, but more crowded.
No idea cost of taxi sorry, but not very far from where tender dock located.
Due to high vehicle traffic I would still recommend allowing one hour each direction. You can always just people watch waiting for tenders to begin return to ship. HTH and enjoy.

It's only 6 miles I think. But if there are people with signs for a boat ride out there for cheap (how much can it be with a filled boat), then I'll do that. Or signs for snorkle tour $25 or something ... ( w RT transportation) ... ? If it's not a good beach day, then I'll find a place with music and margaritas. Surely there are some places that cater to the cruise ship crowd. Was in Cozumel last month as a port stop - OMG - blocks of shops, vendors, bars at the ship terminal. Taxis lined up. Anyway, a new experience.

Where the tenders come in there are restaurants, bars, souvenir shops, water, and land taxis, all kinds of solicitors, and it`s just a 10-minute walk to downtown. Medano beach is a hoot, about $10 each way by water taxi. If you want to go cheap and quiet, there is a public beach about 4 blocks away. Turn right to go downtown, left to the beach. You may be the only person from your ship on this beach. Not the cleanest, but clear water and no vendors! Look on Google maps and you`ll see playa publica just east of the marina.

Bornfisher - thanks so much for that. If everything is so close, I'll check out as much as I can.
