mojo_norte - 8-30-2022 at 10:10 AM

Does anyone know if current Colorado drivers licenses are Ready Lane eligible ? It ha s chip - not sure if it's radio ? Does the ready lane save a great deal of time - generally ? shorter line ?

Don't know about CO licenses.

Generally Ready Lanes are quicker. Which crossing are you considering?

This resource for crossing times used to be really inaccurate but it much better now.

Note the update time. It's usually updated every hour.

If it is “enhanced drivers license” then works for ready lane.

look for something on the license with a star on it, Ca has a bear with a star on it.
I believe the readylane has lived its life and time to merge with regular lanes.....jmo

5 states have EDL. CO isn’t one.

Get Global Entry.

Gives you PSA Pre for domestic air travel. Zero line for immigration when flying back on international flights, and less than 15 wait times crossing back into the US by car.

GE is the ta taas.

Good luck with Global Entry

I don't think that is the norm. Something must be odd with your case. This guy got it in a couple weeks last summer.

I got a Coast Guard registration for my boat in about 5 months and that included having to send them a clearer version of the notary on Bill of Sale.

I guess there's enhanced DL's that double for passports then there's REAL DL's that are for domestic u.s. travel....this is what CA offers....far as I can tell.

BajaMama - 8-31-2022 at 05:11 AM

I agree with JZ. If you do any international travel aside from Baja, Global Entry is the way to go.

PaulW - 8-31-2022 at 08:33 AM

Colorado DL is "Real ID" compliant not "Enhanced ID"
You cannot use a CO DL for border crossing.
The main difference between a Real ID and an Enhanced ID is that an Enhanced ID can be used for entering the US by land and sea without a passport.

So what's the deal?

Are "enhanced" licenses proof of citizenship (to US CBP) and "Real IDs" not?

that be correct!

AKgringo - 9-1-2022 at 05:14 PM

But the Enhanced Driver's License still will not work to get an FFM?

PaulW - 9-1-2022 at 06:43 PM

If you are heading north without a passport your Colorado drivers license will work in the standard lane.
I have proved it twice. The BP person gave me a pamphlet both times to explain the options.

Patience grasshopper! We applied last January, my wife was approved within 2 weeks, mine was just approved last week. Wait until you go to schedule your interview. I'm in SoCal and the closest available appointment is Nogales. I do suggest that you try emailing them regarding your application. I finally did and even though they never responded my approval arrived 2 weeks later. Coincidence?

Any conformation? Have read a time or 2, that a passport
book holder can use the Ready Lane. I know what the
printed regs say, Passport Card for the Ready Lane.
A crosser said the use of a Passport Book, according
to CBP, can be used in the Ready Lane

That is what I did last November!
