Who can help the Grandpa's in San Quintin?

BajaBlanca - 9-7-2022 at 10:11 AM

Hello everyone!

I heard from the Caretaker Juan at the Grandpa's in San Quintin. They need two cannisters of gas - one for the hot water and another for cooking.

The total is 650 pesos a week or $35.

Can we set up a group of us to pay for this? One person a week?

EDIT TO EXPLAIN THAT THE TWO EMPTY GAS CANNISTERS ARE REPLACED WITH FULL ONES, ONCE A WEEK.

Is this another grandpa's?
The one most know (and we recently visited) is 40 kms. north of San Quintín, at San Jacinto.

Barb and I dropped off a nice bundle of food (mostly) a month ago, partly thanks to TW. propane is a constant need.

I don't recall that they had Paypal or not. How would your idea be put into play Blanca?

Juan and his wife and several helpers oversee the granpa's needs.

I don't know but do they lease the tanks? Or is purchase necessary.

I seem to recall that some service companies that refill them has got to be the company you've leased from. Maybe not in Baja.

Hello, they have two cannisters, I presume once upon a time purchased and from then on, one is replaced by another by the gas delivery company.

If you zelle Les at

bajabocana@gmail.com

Les gives to me, I transfer the cash to Mexico and have my telecomm/telegrado guy send a money transfer to Juan, who picks it up in Camalu. This is what we did yesterday for the first time.

If I can get 4 of you to cover one delivery each, I will cover the transfer fees and coordinate the process. This needs to be ongoing and if anyone has a church or other organization that might like to handle this project, that really would be the best solution. The grandpa's need to eat every week and need to shower every day. We need a solution that continues providing until the end of the home.

I know Juan was considering expanding to house women but at this rate. without ongoing support, seems to me not such a good idea.

TO BE CLEAR: these are the exact same grandpas David.

Wonderful! They have a Facebook page, too. It is mentioned in this Baja Bound article I wrote after we visited them last March:

On their Facebook page are many new photos (including John M & Barbara) and videos of the Grandpa's Day celebration: https://www.facebook.com/Grupo-Vision-Y-Cambios-Viviendo-Par...

I hope some of you come forward to Juan as I cannot imagine his anxiety at not being able to cook or have warm water for the grandpa's to shower.

Perhaps someone has a connection to a church or other group that might want to take on this wonderful project? Something ongoing that Juan could count on would be the best.

Have a great day amigos.
