Why I've passed on several cheap houses on the river! Hope everyone is ok.

Years ago I too was briefly charmed by the river community there.
Fortunately I got over it.

Riverside is a good spot for winter RV parking. There will probably be some good deals soon. Get a lot, clear it, and park a trailer on it for the winter and spring.

there was a good reason why the Jesuits built on higher ground.
There was a good reason why the town was built on higher ground.

you have 120 square miles of watershed draining into a 600 ft wide narrows
that translates to high, fast moving water
building a house in that path isn't smart

Mulege is open, barely. Road underneath bridge is washed out. Internet is back but still waiting on Electricity. I am in La Huerta Don Chanos. Water came up to within inches of flooding us out but we are still dry. Worse damage was last week with the freak downpour and mud flows.

Thanks, I was wondering about Don Chanos.

I am currently looking out my window here in Northern CA, and it looks like low clouds, foggy and fixing to drizzle, but it is smoke from the "Mosquito" fire.

In the last couple of years I have been smoked out by fires from the north, south, west and east of Grass Valley, but none of them have forced me to evacuate.

Personally, I would prefer a flood in Mulege over a wild fire here!

Mulege is still hoping for Electricity today. But a major concern will be water. I heard our water supply is piped under the bridge and not sure how long till water flows again!
Internet has been intermittent, for the past 24 hours.
FYI

Thank you for this short video showing the river on Sept. 8!

What's it like now?

How about earthquakes? Did that one today shake you in Grass Valley? :wow:

Nope....didn't feel a thing. I have felt a few over the years here in Northern CA, but after all my years in AK, this area seems like a minor league shake zone.
