Message from Ted Donovan/Baja Talk Radio

MexicoTed - 4-7-2005 at 08:23 AM

Hi Everyone:

First, I would like to apologize to everyone who is getting "spammed" by my monthly email update. I am so, so sorry. It was not my intention at all.

I still do not know what has happened as I am in Acapulco to attend the Tianguis Tourism Show where I am promoting Baja Talk Radio and the website. I am trying frantically to contact my webhost and webmaster to fix this problem.

We either were hacked or the "reply" for the unsubscribe button was set to "reply to all". Whatever it is, do not email to the unsubscribe, I will take everyone off the list and discontinue the email update.

This is terrible, please know that I am not a spammer, my intentions were to spread the word and let everyone know a month in advance whos on the show.

Thanks David K., Doug Means (my brother received your call), Keri and everyone else for trying to diffuse the huge problem with your emails and post while I was traveling all day.

Unbelievable when you pull in after flying/driving at night to a hotel and the whole world is turned upside down.

I hope you will accept my apology,
Ted

Ted [/Of course we accept your apology. Except for the small minded people with no lives.

Keep up the good work and hope to see you soon!!

Thank You Ted, I called your server and they were doing all they could to get this fixed. It seems they have. Now enjoy your tirp! Keep up the good work.

I for one DO Not think you done this for real! Sorry this has happened to you!

Should I feel slighted?? I didn't get any. But that's OK

Hi Ted -
Just sent you a personal email - said in better words what I'll say here: Never ever did I believe you were the cause of that craziness. I KNOW you're not that kinda guy.

You're right, though.... hitting the "correct" link to unsubscribe merely led to another round of announcements from the MXVisitorsCenter which led to another round of responses from recipients. Crazy chaos - perhaps added to by the planetary alignment (Mercury's still Retrograde;)).

Know that I have and will continue to enjoy your radio program - and I look forward to your weekly guest announcements as listed on some of my favorite Boards.

Tu amiga, Natalie

BajaLou - Don't feel slighted. I'll be glad to share the ones I received with you. Just say the word and they're all yours.:saint:;):P:biggrin:

I got 80+ of them...

flyfishinPam - 4-7-2005 at 12:59 PM

but recognized who they were coming from and sure hope he gets is resolved. from his responses to others sounds like it was not intentional.;)

several years ago I used bajalife.com as a hosting service for my website. I later found out that they were attaching cookies to every image on my page and developing a list from folks who looked at my website. very different response than Ted's though. I was told its our way or the highway :fire: so I switched to electraweb.com who complies with my philosophical wish to protect the privacy of our users.:tumble:

spam sucks!

David K - 4-7-2005 at 11:29 PM

Nice to see others with an understanding that sometimes sh%# happens (even to the best of us)...

I also use electraweb.com to host my web sites (vivabaja.com and choralpepper.com)... great service, but poor Dick has a full plate. So, anyone needing a great web host, look no further than our very own 'BajaNomad', Doug!:light:

Mercury's still Retrograde...

SO - 4-8-2005 at 05:45 AM

Now that is interesting and might explain my 45 plus hours every other week, without seeming to need sleep, or am I crazy and forgot what sleep was for? Perhaps I can sleep when I decide it is time to die?

Mercury's still Retrograde... morphic resonance, all interesting, and then there is spamm and te same sh&thouse wall graffiti in my noodle, but it is all just another interesting day in vastness of the universe.

Not SO newbie (RandyMacSC/SO) until Friday some time, and now it is high TIME to pull the plug on my Noodlesville. Sleep bozo - sleep, as you are a clown in your own mirror more than sometimes. And stop posting the little animated GIFS as they chew CPU cycles.

I got rid of 60 of them in less than 30 seconds. it is not a big deal doesn't do any damage and I'm sure he did not do this on purpose. every one I know has made at least 1 mistake and now Ted can join my club of imperfect people. Welcome Ted

Nuts! It sometimes rains when I do not wish it to.
It was an honest mistake.

No way. Oh, yeah-- there was that time back in '64 when I underestimated myself...

Baja Talk Radio & Apology/Report

MexicoTed - 4-17-2005 at 06:33 PM

Hey Everyone,

I am back from Acapulco and wanted to thank everyone for understanding about the email mess I created, even those who believe I should have been more responsible and should have a better knowledge of the technology I used. They are right.

Unfortunately, I have only used a mail list a few months (with no problems I might add) and was unaware of the setting defaults this last month that were incorrect. Our system had been reset and I thought everything on the mail list was set, obviously it wasn't.

Regardless, I will discountinue (as I already stated) the list and place a Baja Talk Radio upcoming shows button on the site so you can see who will be in in the upcoming weeks. If anyone would like to email me about the problems I caused, please do at mexicoted@yahoo.com so I can personally apologize.

Also, author Bernie Swaim will be the guest on Tuesday. I will also be at the Book Signing on saturday at Keri's Pyramid Resort, but only for the day as I have to return to San Diego, so I will miss the Tequila tasting (what a shame!).

Thanks for all the understanding,
Ted
