Cars swept down roads.

Wish there was an easy way to post a video

Photos and video are on Vizcaino Hoy (FB page)

The FB news outlets for baja sometimes really can’t be beat for quick photo/video reporting…

After a 5.3 magnitude earthquake off the shores of Mulege hit a few hours ago, Mulegé Municipality was inundated with 4 inches of rain in one hour and numerous lightning strikes plus 82 mph wind gusts. Damage reports are still coming in from the flooding. But it appears that this could be worse than Hurricane Kay. Mulege Rotary is standing by to assist in whatever way we can. If you would like to help, you can donate at paypal.me/clubrotariomulege. As always, whatever you can do little or large is greatly appreciated…

Wow! I passed through there on the 24th, after Kay and before No Name damage. I wonder how widespread the damage was?

HeyMulegeScott - 9-28-2022 at 10:18 AM

I posted this on road conditions.

They also had an earthquake. Report from Baja Glamping in Coyote -

We have unfortunate news, last night we were hit by another storm out of nowhere following a 5.2 earthquake sustaining more damage then the last two storms combined. This being said we are unsure when we will be able to reopen our doors, please stay tuned and keep us and all the people of Mulege in your thoughts. Mother nature is showing us her power, and it’s stronger than all of us.

This is so sad. The pictures are scary. My students are fine but everything is closed. My gosh, this year will go down in history for Santa Rosalia and Mulege.

Stay safe amigos who live there.

That is quite a view....I never realized that Santa Rosalia was built in the neck of a funnel!

Right, put there by the French, in the bottom of a canyon!

Can you say Dien Bien Phu the French always hold the low ground. Sorry that you folks are getting hammered so bad this year.

HeyMulegeScott - 9-28-2022 at 04:13 PM

Looks like a mess in Mulege but thankfully no damage to houses like in Santa Rosalia.

HeyMulegeScott - 9-28-2022 at 04:16 PM

Neighborhood in Santa Rosalia that got crushed by boulders in the flood.

SFandH - 9-28-2022 at 04:20 PM

Boy, that sucks - people losing their homes.

Thanks for posting the photos.

BajaParrothead - 9-28-2022 at 04:57 PM

Hopefully no one was injured. 3:00 AM without warning is scary. At least with approaching named storms, there's time to prepare!

steve5555 - 9-28-2022 at 05:27 PM

Over here in San Juanico we had wind and lightening starting at 0330 and lasting till 0700. Im guess the same little storm that hit on the sea of cortez side. No damage over here but I wanted to point out thee size of the disturbance.
