Looking for Baja fuel prices

unbob - 10-2-2022 at 09:40 PM

Is there a web site quoting current fuel (gasolina y diesel) prices?

If not, anyone know current price of diesel anywhere on hwy 5 and 1? Gracias!

mulege

reg gas is 23.0 to the liter

diesel is 24.8 to the liter

At today's exchange rate: 23 x .05 = US$1.15/ liter = US$4.35/ gallon.

That is close to US$2/ gallon cheaper than many stations in San Diego today!

Pemex has an app but I haven't found it to be very accurate at times. It does seem to agree with Bob now on the prices in Mulege.

Search Guía Pemex on Play or Apple.

Amazing how fuel prices in California have skyrocketed, but the prices in Mexico are a peso more than when I visited Baja last year.....

If you are talking about pesos per liter, those are the highest prices I have seen anywhere!

Big spike up here in Canada very recently too. People lined up around the block for gas at the cheaper stations. Oil at around US$80 per barrel, so people are talking it's been driven unreasonably high by recent climate taxes added on gasoline. If that's truly the case, we won't see much relief anytime soon.
Mexico is somehow avoiding the major spikes. Even at 30 pesos per liter it is still only about 2/3 of our cost here at CAD 2.25/liter. Fill up while it's still cheap.

Many pemex liters are less volume than metric liters, and pemex liters vary from place to place and day to day, so difficult to convert pemex liters to US gallons. I suggest you assume that pemex liters are 900 ml in ISO/metric system of units.

Pemex uses a different measurement for their litres? I never noticed any difference on my fillups in La Paz. Generally I knew it was close to 3/4 of a tank and it seemed right on.

AKgringo - 10-3-2022 at 03:29 PM

I have been filing up with regular, so I haven't been paying much attention to diesel, or premium gasoline prices. The lowest price I have seen was at Costco in Cabo at 20.99 per liter. I would say that the average price was probably 23.50, +/- a peso or so, but I really wasn't tracking it too closely.

It depends on the station. Some sell "litros chiquitos", small liters. You might have to buy 22 liters to fill a 20-liter gas can. It's a "special" pump calibration.

Gracias! At current exchange rate that's $4.69 (for diesel) which is exactly the average price here in Tucson ATM (although lowest reported price is $4.39). Sure beats prices in LaLaLand!
