WAZE Navigation to Mexicali East SENTRI

BajaMama - 10-17-2022 at 07:15 AM

Goofy Question #173:

Is WAZE is a reliable navigation tool to take the best route to the Mexicali East SENTRI lane? Obviously heading north....

Check it out and verify if they have the two routes, Sentri and normal as a distinctly separate ways
Google Maps only shows one route.
Use the images that are posed on Nomads for accurate routing.

I would recommend approaching the border crossing from the West. There is a stop sign there, and making a left turn into the Sentri lane is clearly marked.

Google had me approach from the east, which I now understand is a no-no and the cops may make you continue west and join the end of the east-bound line to make that left turn. It wasn't busy when I went, though, and I made the right turn without a fuss.

Waze will work as well as the other common navigation apps. App may not know if you want to enter line from east or west side, so just make your own turns to ensure your enter from west side to get sentri, or enter from east side to enter regular lane.

If you want to experiment with Waze, drop pins and start navigating from your arm chair, see what route it plots for you. You don’t have to be driving to experiment with the app and see what route it selects For you.

Thanks all. Looking forward to a late October arrival to Punta Chivato. A short stay and hopefully the wind is down and the fish are biting.
