4x4abc - 11-17-2022 at 05:52 PM

Rancho Santa Ana (Visita Santa Ana) has a new access road
the old road in Arroyo Santana connecting to the main San Borja road just west of San Ignacito was in bad shape and often washed out

I guess in relative terms it is new but I first took that route about 3 to 4 years ago. It is a well graded road but there is a gate when you get down near Santa Ana. What I am waiting for is for someone to re-connect the road through Santa Anna and up to the San borja mesa near the air strip.

This was a road put in for the eco-resort near Rancho San Gregorio, was it not?

The road was destroyed two months ago...

From their Facebook page, post-Hurricane Kay:
Hola Baja friends, this is Rafael from Rancho San Gregorio. The reason of this message is to let you guys know that Hurricane Kay damaged the roads to the ranch and some buildings as well. The only ways to get to the ranch is either by horse or walking. We are not letting this issues stop us, thats way I am creating this program to do something fun and different together and to continue our dream to preserve our nature, community, culture and our wellness. If you like to receive my wonderful program also help us to repair damage caused by hurricane to the ranch just click on the following link and buy it

David, no, it was put in to bypass a washout farther west down from San Borja. You go west from Guillermo's ranch about 7 miles and then turn south up an large arroyo. Easy to follow on GE. The road from Borja to San Gregorio is accessed by going through Borja or right next to it, up and over the hill and past the old air strip. Before you get to San Gregorio there is a road that goes off to the right and down a valley and then to Santa Anna. That road washed out several years ago. There are some interesting old abandoned ranchos down in there. It was one of Herman's favorite places. He claimed to have a girlfriend down in there. If you can believe anything Herman said.

In 2003, I drove from San Borja south to the fork, then west to Santa Ana, stopping at the graves, called 'Padres at Rest' by Nomad Baja Taco on his photo map. The road near there was overgrown but I was determined! Popped out on the road to Rosarito. I missed seeing the Santa Ana visita ruins somehow. I guess I figured they would be near the graves.

missed the graves on all my trips
can you pinpoint them?

Not sure I could pin point them on GE but do you know where the huge Eucalyptus trees are? One of the trees is near 4' in diameter. The graves are near the road not far from the trees.

From Baja Taco, in 2000 (looking NW):

From me, in 2003 (looking S):

My photo is of the less fancy grave that is between the two fancy ones. See it in Taco's photo. In my photo, you can see the oasis of Santa Ana.
The graves are along the dirt road from San Borja and you can see they are at the base of a hillside.

Great.
Just an fyi:
My guess of 28° 41.488'N, 113° 49.392'W is =
28°41'29.3"N 113°49'23.5"W or the same site as your waypoint.

Do you have the adobe ruin (visita) GPS? I have this with the Guilick and BajaCat photos: 28°41’25.2″ -113°49’14.3″
