Crazy stupid question - but I'll ask anyway ... is there any safe way to do it?
Nothing urgent or terribly important but am curious. (asking for amigo)
No, not sending cash in an envelope!rccali - 11-22-2022 at 02:21 PM
There are a number of Mexican banks that offer so-called "Dollar" accounts where you can deposit US dollars without it being converted to Pesos. If I
remember correctly Santander, Bancomer, HSBC and Scotia Bank offer these accounts. Once your money is in the Dollar account you can then wire it
internationally to your US account. Generally there are fees involved for the wire transfer at both the originating and the receiving banks.

Thanks, but no thanks. Way too much time, effort and bother. Mula - 11-22-2022 at 03:41 PM
Schwab. Take a pic of the check - front and back - and e mail it to them. Something like that. PaulW - 11-22-2022 at 06:33 PM
For a check.
I use use the us bank app on my phone to deposit checks I have received here in Baja. My bank is Wells Fargo and it works within minutes to get to my
account in my us bank account.
Just like Mula does with Schwab.
For cash.
Give the money to someone who can write a check - Then do above.pacsur - 11-23-2022 at 08:04 AM
When using the US app for Wells Fargo do you have to use a cel with a US provider?
Wells won’t let me do it with my telcel phone, and I also tried using a phone I have with prepaid tmobile that will not work either, and using a Vpn
with the app was a no go also.
Wells will only allow me personally to deposit cash into my account, it is the banks rules, and not govt regulations.PaulW - 11-23-2022 at 08:17 AM
I transferred a check to Wells Fargo using both providers, Telcel and now T-Mobile. I have always used an iPhone 8 and with the latest IOS version.
Contact your provider and ask them what the deal is.
I doubt it the VPN causing the problem?
My bet it is your phone. not using the app correctly??
BTW, Wells has a 20kusd limit now days.bajatrailrider - 11-24-2022 at 09:24 AM

Oh, stop. Just because you had bad Mexican banking experiences doesn't mean everyone does, which has been pointed out to you many times. Most people
who live in Mexico have Mexican bank accounts, they don't have one foot in another country.pacificobob - 11-26-2022 at 08:24 AM

20 years of Mexican banking.....zero problems.JDCanuck - 11-26-2022 at 08:43 AM
As per the original question, Wells Fargo or Western Union seem to be the best alternatives for sending cash and may also be the cheapest as banks
have very high exchange offsets.
