My bookstore owner friend posted about the new Berrendo (deer) museum on kilometer 123 on highway 1 (Guerrero Negro area). If you go, please share some photos!

I see an image of an Antelope, but no deer. If I am correct, the word for deer is Venado (think of venison).

The museum is at the location of the antelope preserve?

It is the Peninsular Pronghorn, no longer an antelope as named long ago. See my photos at the reserve, museum was under construction, in June 2017... Just east of Km. 123, within sight of the eagle monument.

A quick search:
The pronghorn is often called an antelope, and it does look like many antelopes. Yet it is different enough to warrant its own taxonomic family, Antilocapridae. Read on to learn more about this one-of-a-kind critter!

Is there a difference between pronghorn and antelope?
Although often simply called antelope, pronghorns are not true antelope at all. Most authorities consider them the sole modern member of the Antilocapridae family, while all other horned ungulates (mammals with hooves) in North America belong to the Bovidae family.

I have never much liked the idea of keeping animals in captivity but to their credit some zoos do some good work in conservation efforts for endangered species. From Wikipedia:

San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance participates as a supporting partner to reestablish the peninsular pronghorn in protected areas of Baja California. Breeding habitats, which are acres in size, allow translocated pronghorn to be monitored while having room to behave naturally. When they get reintroduced, the pronghorn are well prepared for life in their new home. An assurance herd of pronghorn lives at the Los Angeles Zoo, in case a natural disaster or disease wipes out the herds in their native habitat.

This Pronghorn Preserve has thousands of hectares for the pronghorn antelope to roam in and reproduce in a protected area where there is no competition for food from grazing cows and goats.

There is also a nice new museum in Guerrero Negro where the Casino used to be on the main street. The government is really helping the area develop more tourism projects.
