Anyone know of an ATM on the highway in San Felipe?

philodog - 12-20-2022 at 08:25 AM

Somewhere on Mex 5 so I don't have to go into town? Thanks. Also , what do Mexicans call ATMs?

Phonetically: Ah Tay Emmay

I've heard cajero, although if I remember correctly, the 2 ATMs in Todos Santos are labeled "ATM".

The best way to avoid a rip off is to use an ATM at a bank, not on a street. The bogus ATM’s can copy your PIN and other info on your card and then drain your account.

There was a HSBC cajero inside Calimax on the right side of the highway going south. That was last May.

Thanks Chippy. That will work.

Eldorado - main entrance, ocean side next to the tennis courts. West of the serving area inside of a windowed booth.

El Dorado

We've used the machine Paul refers to - and it's five or six miles before S.F. - just tell the fellow at the gate that you'd like to use the ATM machine and he'll let you in. Easy as can be.

Avoiding town? Not if you are going past San Felipe

You cannot go beyond San Felipe (on pavement) without going to the 'center of town', the traffic circle with two gas stations, opposite each other (there are many 4-way stop signs crossing town, but not a big deal). That traffic circle is just a few blocks west from the main commercial street along the coast. The traffic circle is where you turn right to coninue south on Hwy. 5.

See the red circles

There are currently 3 ATMs at the entrance to the Calimax in San Felipe.

SF ATMs

5 or 6 at Bancomer, never have to wait. Short walk from parking to the bank from the NE. Advantage during banking hours there is always an English speaking person for help. English display
3 at Calimax crowded as it a very busy place with no privacy?
1 each at both military places. No wait at either.
I forget if other than Bancomer if they have English display?

Yeah the northern Pemex that is now an ARCO, right after the "Rockodile" sign used to have one but it is no longer there (it was inside the OXXO).

This is an important point many people may not fully understand: The ATMs ("cajeros") within or physically attached to banks, are maintained by bank personnel and I've always understood they are safer than cajeros in stores, etc. which although not actually "bogus", are maintained and monitored by outside companies.

Quite right. If something goes wrong with the transaction, the required fix will be much easier with the bank located atm .
