Direct TV in Baja ( network stations unavailable ?

Why can't you get network stations ( CBS,FOX,NBC,ETC,0 ) using a direct TV box with a San Diego billing address ? When I'm in Baja I take my receiver from San Diego and use it at my house in Baja. Up until a year ago more or less it worked fine, now no network stations thus no football play offs. Can anybody answer this or know of a fix?

Companies like YouTube TV (YTTV), and it sounds like DirecTV, put an extra level of location checking for the local channels (CBS, NBC, ABC, and Fox).

With YTTV you defeat the first level of location check with a VPN (NordVPN, ExpressVPN). For the second level they look at what location your browser (Chrome, Firefox) is reporting. So you need to edit a browser file to spoof the location.

I had DirecTV from 2000 to about 2016. Used it at my house in Mexico and California.

Switched over to YTTV around 2016. It is MUCH better than DirecTV. DirecTV is like using an iPhone from 2009 compared to one from 2023. My advice is switch over to YTTV. Figure out how to use a VPN (very easy). Then Google how to spoof your browser's location.

I've watched it all over the world and just did it in Mexico 2 weeks ago.

CD,

A part of the problem might be as direct TV adds more local channels they use new satellites with more spot beams that cover smaller geographic areas. The SD signal may no longer go that far south.

Dish US has the same issue with the networks SOB, a much simpler solution:

Or go with VeTV/SKY, covering all NFL playoff games, Superbowl, and many regular season games, (not to mention all the futbol you could imagine), and NBA, MLB, etc....

National and local News, Entertainment, Congress, UNAM programing, (National University), Music, A&E, History, etc.....

Good for growing one's spanish ear and 249 pesos a month!

Are you trying to get San Diego locals in High Def? If so you probably won't be successful. Try the standard def setting that's what I use here in bola and it works fine.
If you are very much farther south than me then even standard def will have problems.

We just stream our Direct TV via a VPN though the web. Have to use a VPN. We use Nord.

I use a mini desktop connected to my wifi. Basically using the 85 inch TV as a monitor. Get all my local stations from Florida and everything else.

Direct or Dish
We just call and tell them we have moved our RV to a USA RV park and ask for local channels for the new Zip code.
