allot of people don't realize how much time and effort and money it takes to keep this Forum going . I for one don't Know how Doug dose it. But if you ever wondered what you could do to help him there are a couple of ways.

1 is to every once in a while click on some of the advertising links that appearer at the top and bottom of each page. you don't need to sit there and read every thing or bye anything . just by opening these sites from within the BajaNomad forum Doug gets some kind of Brownie points that help pay for the site. I try to open 3 or 4 every day when I think about it. and I have learned some neat stuff by doing so.

2 another way is to go through the store on this site when you bye books and things from Amazon.com. I don't know If you know about Amazon.com but they sell every thing under the rainbow and beat the price of most other sites, they are also the most reputable site I know of I have been doing business with them for years. and they ship in to Baja, cant beat that.

3 also you can bye books and other things right from this site.

4 the last is just to say thanks to him when you git a chance.

Doug did not ask me to write this , I have never even met him yet but I really enjoy having this forum. I have met so many nice people here and that is truly priceless.

Bruce has brought up something I've been curious about : How long is it necessary to linger, after clicking an ad, to have it count? I want to stay long enough to give Doug a brownie point, but don't like to spend much time on stuff I've already read.

I run similar advertising on my web sites. It's NOT a good idea to click on links without any real interest in the product.

The advertiser pays real money for each click. If they get lots of clicks and no sales, the amount they pay goes down, and eventually they stop advertising.

They want to pay for advertising leads, not people "helping out" a website.

Clicking on advertising links randomly is little different from stealing a few items from a large store to give to your local store so they can sell them to make a bit of money.

Sorry if that's a bit blunt, but that really is the situation - the money is coming out of another businesses' profits (or losses), not some magical website fairy.

Of course it's different if (as Bruce implied) you're clicking because the subject of the ad is interesting, and want to read what it's about. It's then the advertiser's problem if they can't sell you something, they've got what they have paid for - a genuine visitor.

Well said.

While we Nomads are eager to help support this site, and random financial contributions (in amounts simular to magazine subscriptions, which BajaNomad.com is far superior to) would be a great way to support this site, Doug sincerely wants the Google ads to be of interest to the viewer, and you will notice they are taylored to the subject being discussed... So, I think click on any that are interesting to you... but do click and have a look at the opening page, at least.;D

Theoretically, all this input is interesting, but let's get real. I live in La Paz, and often click onto ads for local businesses, for only one reason: I've read that this provides support for the Nomad board.

Does anyone really expect me to take the time to read these commercials for hotels and miscellaneous activities that I've really got no interest in at all? Or that what I do is somehow cheating some advertiser?

I see big difference in these two things. One is legal and the other is a felony.
