2023 Baja 1000- Running reverse direction?

thebajarunner - 5-14-2023 at 05:25 PM

Gringo Gazette reporting that in honor of the 50th year that the race will start in La Paz and end up north

SCORE website has no mention
In fact does not even list the 1000 on the schedule.

I ran the last NORRA "Mexican" 1000, finished second in the pickup class

Ran the next 7 or 8 "Baja" 1000 events under SCORE
Got some trophies, but nothing like the 1972 event.

Reverse course sure does make it more difficult for the privateer to do the pre-running and all the race logisitcs.

Pre-run is going southbound, then race it northbound. This is economical, low carbon footprint. Best low-carbon footprint is to wing it with no pre-running. Would make it a more competitive race if no one were to pre-run it. Perhaps they should release the course map only on morning the race starts, the first minutes of the race would test the racers ability to upload coarse map and thereby prove they can navigate…

Goat, pre-running is not done with the race vehicle (at least for many classes). Race vehicles will be towed to La Paz for the start... To risky that something will break before the race if it was used to prerun.

Dick, the reverse direction had been proposed and discussed by Score for a while. This will be a very expensive race, indeed!

Score website clearly spells out a La Paz to Ensenada race:

YES
I find that the TT deep pockets racers all have pre-run rigs that are last years or previously used TT.

I remember when Steel used his pre-run TT for the race when his primary race TT had an engine issue.

Agree, Yes all race vehicles will be trailered tp La Paz.

Yes, the reverse direction is old news. I know it sometimes requires a lot of familiarity to get info from the SCORE web site.

You have obviously never raced
Pre-running in the opposite direction would be about as useful as prerunning on your driveway.

a more eco friendly race would be a rally raid.......but then it wouldn't be B1K!

pre-running is actually detracting from the competition. a truer test would be to race a course you haven't practiced. offroad racing is supposed to be unpredictable, test of machine vs dirt, so would be better competition if there was no pre-running.

if y'all think pre-running is actually necessary, then a more eco-friendly version of pre-running would be to send all the drivers a video of the course so they could race the course on the playstation or xbox -- this would also be a merch opportunity where promoter could sell the same video to fans to race on their own on playstation :light:

stick to things you know about.....which ain't much

Given that mega-corporations market to multiple groups, why does one group get offended that “their” product is marketed to another group? I can only think that bigotry and hate is at the root of their talking offense.
All you bud light haters still drinking the Mexican AB InBev brands and 400 other brands?

I was replying to this, from you:
"Companies That Get ‘Woke’ Aren’t Going Broke — They’re More Profitable Than Ever"
Sort of a way to prove your liberal news sources are not honest, at least this time.

By-the-way, remember all the years you said Russia was controlling Trump, here on Nomad? Are you going to 'come out' with any statement?

NBC News:
WASHINGTON — The special counsel who spent four years investigating the Trump-Russia probe accused the FBI of acting negligently by opening the investigation based on vague and insufficient information in a sweeping 300-page report made public Monday.

Special counsel John Durham, named by then-Attorney General William Barr to examine the origins and conduct of the investigation into whether Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign colluded with Russia, criticized the FBI at length in the report.

“The [Justice] Department and the FBI failed to uphold their important mission of strict fidelity to law,” the conclusion section of Durham’s report says. “Senior FBI personnel displayed a serious lack of analytical rigor toward the information they received, especially information received from politically affiliated persons or entities.”

WASHINGTON, May 15 (Reuters) - The FBI lacked "actual evidence" to investigate Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and relied too heavily on tips provided by Trump's political opponents to fuel the probe, U.S. Special Counsel John Durham concluded in a report released on Monday.

The report marks the end of a four-year probe launched in May 2019 when then-Attorney General William Barr appointed Durham, a veteran prosecutor, to probe potential missteps by the FBI when it launched its early stage "Crossfire Hurricane" inquiry into potential contacts between Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and Russia.

We simply thank god that the fbi started the investigation, the people saw what a clown he was, and we got rid of the marmalade emperor! God bless America! Now if we could only flush the rest of the turd down the bowl,… damn GOP trump enablers keep floating to the top and plugging the plumbing!

Why do so many threads on this site go to crap over political views?
Too many children trapped in old men bodies?

Anyway, please do not suggest prerunning backwards from the race direction, it's useless and highly dangerous.

Most teams will have multiple driving and support groups to cover a specific section of course (bottom, middle, top for example). So a team that is starting in La Paz will likely go down with prerunner and prerun their sections and wait for the start. Etc. Then someone brings the racecar down for tech and also serves as chase back north. This is typical of small low budget teams. The ballers will use private aircraft to get around and will have staff attend to the logistics. BTW, the real low budget guys won't even prerun since all free time goes to just getting a car to the start line.

baja-chris - 5-17-2023 at 11:46 AM

[/rquote]Narcissism.[/rquote]

I think that would be required on both sides of discussion, else there would be no reply. Just sayin.

elgatoloco - 5-17-2023 at 09:39 PM

I heard George Santos is the new favorite in Class 1, at least according to him so it must be true. Geatz will be riding shotgun and Marjorie and Lauren will be comms control. Oath Keepers and Proud Boys are asking for time off from their incarceration for Seditous Conspiracy convictions for the handiwork they did on 1/6 at the behest of the only twice impeached (soon to be registered sex offender) former president so they can run pit crew. DK can you check with your massive Baja network to confirm?
