BajaNomad

SENTRI approved- only took 19 months!!

thebajarunner - 6-9-2023 at 09:57 AM

Drove down to Nogales yesterday to complete the app.
Probably could have found something closer than 500 mile r.t. but wanted to finally get it done.
The CBP officers there were amazingly helpful. All in all a really positive visit and outcome.

My officer, Lopez, said he personally has been on the wait list for 14 months. Another officer told me is is 8 months on the waiting list.

3 months ago my congresswoman tried to help, but we just got back several pages of bureaucratic crap.

The irony is that I applied the same time for my wife and she got pre-approved in 2 weeks, and she was born in Mexico. Go figure.
The downside, apparently they mailed her card soon after approval, it never was delivered to us.
The CBP guys jumped on that and assured me that both cards should be here in 2 to 4 weeks...... ah yes, we shall see.

Stay tuned, I will post when I get the cards, but we are making progress.

Wowsers... and no help from BajaVida, either?

JZ - 6-9-2023 at 12:33 PM

Welcome to the club. Glad you were able to do it. Why anyone who goes to Baja doesn't get it makes no sense to me.

My daughter did hers earlier this year. Got the approval in a week. Did the interview a month later. Interview only took 5 mins.

thebajarunner - I think it would be wise to start the renewal process pretty soon.

We never received the kid's cards. What is the CBP? I just paid the $25 for both kids but would love to talk to someone who can look into it.

CBP= California Border Patrol? Are they in charge of getting off the cards or did they check on it for you?

Got our cards today!!

19 months on hold,
but just 16 days from approval to receiving the cards.

Un milagro!!!

BooJumMan - 6-26-2023 at 12:05 PM

Yikes!! Ok I just had to count mine again. This is my 3rd re-application and its been 21 months waiting for me. Obviously we're just fine using the expired card, but pretty crazy. Pretty soon sentri will be longer than the normal lanes... :D (I think that is the case some days at Mexicali East!)
