mtgoat666 - 7-4-2023 at 07:40 AM

Happy 4th of July! On this 4th of July let’s honor the French who fought our revolution for us! We Americans would still be Brit’s but for the French.

Right! And some of us would still be saying "God save the queen".

Happy 4th everyone!

RFClark - 7-4-2023 at 10:45 AM

Some of us still do say “God Save the Queen!”

He's no dummy, that's for sure. I don't actually think he believes half of what he says though. But that keeps it interesting.

4th of july or juneteenth? Independence day for whites or independence day for slaves? In 1775, 20% of british north America was enslaved…

Being from Brooklyn, we learned that the Kosciuszko Bridge was named after Tadeusz Kościuszko, a Polish officer who served as a Colonel in the Continental Army during the U.S. Revolution and was promoted to Brigadier General in recognition of his heroism. Viva... Polonia?

Take care of your pets tonight. They get freaked out by explosives.

Good advice, and mostly true, but thunder and lightning, fireworks, and gun fire amuse the dog I have now. However, a vacuum cleaner is a whole different thing!

They shoot them off at our local HS which is just down the hill from our house. Super loud. The dogs were mostly ok. They didn't want to come outside, but just stayed in place.

Pic from the back yard.

Our dog Poppy (see updated avatar) is relatively new to us, so we're seeing her reaction to loud noises like thunder and fireworks for the first time. The fourth of July was pretty much a washout here on Cape Cod, so we were spared a noisy night with only sporadic pyrotechnics from a distance. She seems mostly unphased by thunder so far, but will lose her mind if either of us sneezes.

Our trainer had us bang pans and stuff around the dogs when they were young to get them accustom to loud, unusual noises.

If you have ever raised a litter of puppies, you probably noticed that there can be a wide range of personalities within the pack. What works well with some pups may not have the same result with others.
