With much sadness, this morning TMW informed me that Roy Hall, aka The Squarecircle has passed on to the other side.
Roy was a great travel friend as he was never happier than going to difficult places in his gold Toyota 4Runner or his Land Rover LR3.
We went to races and we went to many hard to get to sites, as well.
Roy's health declined a few years ago and the past couple of years, he lived in a home near TMW (Tom) who spent many weekends with him, taking him to
fun places that sure must have lit up his life.
I collected together all the photo I had taken of Roy plus many from Roy's camera he asked me to share... and created this webpage: https://vivabaja.com/squarecircle/ Here are a couple samples from that page:
2006 Off Road Expo:
Tom ‘TW’, David K, Roy ‘The Squarecircle’, Baja Lou Wells
2007 Mission Santa María:
In May 2008, with help from TMW, Roy was driving the first full-size vehicle recorded climbing up the La Turquesa Grade, in modern history!

Another Nomad I will never have a chance to meet! I discovered this forum nine years ago this month, and so many of the members I thought I would run
into some day are gone now. BajaNomad - 9-23-2023 at 09:30 PM

I never met squarecircle, but I've always liked his username.
"squaring the circle" = trying to do something that is very difficult or impossible. Trying and making an effort.
