The word in Loreto is the race is going to be going thru town and down Davis Street to the North before heading out to the highway. If that is the
case it's going to be a long night and couple of days.
Has anyone heard of this?advrider - 10-14-2023 at 06:09 PM
This will be my first year chasing for a SXS team, super excited to see it unfold from the inside. It's going to be a long one and a long couple of
weeks before.
Racing IN Loreto, not around Loreto
Howard - 10-15-2023 at 03:15 PM
I guess it's not a rumor. Signs have been posted saying speed limit of 38 MPH for the race along Davis Street. It's going to be noisy and dusty and
obnoxious. I am sure they have a reason why it should be run through town and in front of residential homes with no consideration of the people.
Am I missing something and being a hater for no reason? Talk to me, what am I missing? Keep it out of town I say! Am I allowed to water the street in
front of my house to keep the dust to a minimum?mtgoat666 - 10-15-2023 at 04:37 PM

I feel for you. It is an obnoxious event. But some of the local businesses probably like the race, it is a spectacle that attracts tourists that buy
beer and junk food.
It’s cathartic to complain, keep it up!
You may want to take a vacation during the race and get away from the noise and dirt.

People who think making lots of noise and burning up fossil fuels unnecessarily is "fun", aren't the type of people who care if they disturb anyone. StuckSucks - 10-20-2023 at 09:03 AM
The course through Loreto: David K - 10-20-2023 at 09:30 AM
Wow, right through the town on city streets and the malecon! At controlled speed, of course (before goat claims this will kill children).
Will you have the Satellite peninsula Course Map for us, too?
Controlled speed?
Howard - 10-20-2023 at 10:00 AM
For the race, race speed is posted at 37 MPH through residential neighborhoods through relatively narrow dirt streets that are already torn up with
normal everyday traffic.
Are they going to just leave the streets in the same condition after the race or do they plan to grade them afterwards?
I think this is going to be a 24 cluster f--k with bad repercussions afterwards with the condition of the roads paved and dirt, left in even worse
condition that they already are. I do not see any financial benefit to the community by having the race through the city rather than back in the
desert where it always has been. Let them destroy and kill things in the countryside rather than in the city.pacificobob - 10-20-2023 at 10:41 AM

Nope. The racers and support crew understand that baja exists exclusively for their convenience and entertainment. The more I'm exposed to that
narcissistic behavior the more I dread their presence.David K - 10-20-2023 at 11:00 AM
Yet, the locals come in droves to see it and the businesses make bank. The race coming through town is a surprise to me, too, yet the local town
politicians/ police had to have approved this route. Howard - 10-20-2023 at 11:17 AM
David, the locals who will watch the race will not spend one more centavo than they would if the race were back in the desert. The race was only 1/2
mile outside of town before and I don't think the economy will benefit at all for them racing thru town. The local population does not have any
expendable income for souvenirs. It will be exciting for the kids watching them race thru town but they could of seen it just outside of town as well.
The streets will be lined with lots of excitement but when it's over with, what does the local people go back to, town up streets with no money to fix
them.
I know I am fighting a losing battle and will just have to live with it, but it still doesn't make it right.mtgoat666 - 10-20-2023 at 11:19 AM

Droves? Many locals stay away too.
Not sure businesses get rich. I suppose oxxo sells a bit extra beers, a few hotels have a bit extra $, and some restaurants sell a few more tacos. Don Pisto - 10-20-2023 at 11:26 AM

Kids running across a neighbor's lawn isn't even close to an analogy for vehicles tearing through town, making tons of noise, kicking up clouds of
dust, and polluting the atmosphere with gasoline fumes.Bajazly - 10-20-2023 at 12:06 PM
Yep, a few hundred cars ripping thru town at the neck snapping speed of local traffic on mostly paved roads, the horror! Shut this chit show down
immediately if not sooner.AKgringo - 10-20-2023 at 12:30 PM
