Hi there!
I'm asking you on behalf of Alaska Air Lines what you typically bring fishing when you fly to Baja.
We would like to know the following in order to tailor air service to Loreto, Baja California Sur. All of your responses are greatly appreciated.
How many items (pieces) do you normally check onto your flight and what are they?
ie: rod tube, suitcase of clothes, reel bag...
If you bring a rod tube, what is its length?
I will be forwarding this information to Alaska Airlines and future policy will be made to better serve LTO bound passengers.
By the way LTO is going to get another flight starting in October! Alaska will now fly here from LAX on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. You'll

Hi, Pam---
I bring one check-in bag (a small one), and one small carry on knapsack that I put in the overhead.
I rent all my fishing gear from the resort (and have always been more than satisfied with Van Wormer's supplied gear.)
I do not bring any cooler to take home fish in.

Items:
1- suitcase
1- rod tube ~ 7' long
1- reel bag
1- tackle box
1- ice chest that I put the reel bag in on the south bound flight

We have been trying to book flights and send people down on Alaska, but their rates are almost double that of AeroCal for simular dates.
I know they ran some specials back in Feb, but their May - june flights are way high

Pam, our group normally brings the maximum
allowed by AeroCalifornia: 2 pieces/70lbs each 62"total Height+Lenght+Width plus one carry on. If not in boxes,
we'll cram as much as we can in coolers. In addition, many in our group will bring surfboards to take over to the Pacific side (extra cost). also I
have noticed customs is taking a very aggressive stance on receipts for personal items being brought in as well as packaged USDA Beef. We continued to
be hasseled by the customs folks. The past three months have been especially bad. I now take receipts for everything, including paper towels from
Costco that we've been held up for!

Pam: (my 10 weight's working out just fine, by-the-way).
For two people:
Rod tube (Bazooka) at 7.5'
2 - 36" duffles with clothes, gear
2 small carry-on with reels, cameras, misc electronics

hopefully alaska has got there chit together and started to do the maintenance that is required on there planes. we were comeing back from cabo when
the jet went down west of la ex and from all the reports i read on the incident the maintenance sucks. i prefer mexican airlines tho there probably
not any better but at least i'll have a full belly when it goes down down.
