for anyone interested in the area of san francisquito for an overnight.... baja 1000 i spent 2 nights at Rancho Escondito and it was great. If you need to be by the water, Beto at Punta San Fran is still best choice... but if the water (8 miles away) nis not the deal breaker Escondito has it all! Breakfast, lunch , Dinner... beers.. rooms .. hot water showers. the owner is Oscar, he runs the place with his wife daughter and a few ranch hands. Generator runs til lights out at 9pm. internet available for 50 pesos for device a day. he has several rooms and cabins... have him show you around before you choose were to stay. there were 2 of us and it was 20 U.S. each per night.

I stayed there a couple years ago and agree it is a great place. Super friendly people (Familia Villavicencio), good food and conversation. I look forward to another stay there someday.

You aren't the first person I've heard say good things about their experience there. I've always just stayed on the beach in San Francisquito but will be sure and spend a night there on an upcoming trip.

What is the dog situation there? I have had to pass on a few other ranch camping places because I have a large, powerful dog. She gets along with most dogs, but if there are a lot of ranch dogs running around things can get ugly pretty fast.

Thanks for sharing!
I drove there twice in 2017 (Jan. & June), and was closed up both times. Here is my map of the area around Rancho Escondido (Hidden Ranch):
