I'm thinking about spending a few nights camping at Punta Chivato. What's the status on that campground now that the ownership of the hotel has
changed? Are the rates still reasonable? Toilets clean? Does the Punta Chivato hotel still have reasonably priced food and huge daqueris? Any
experiences you could relate would be appreciated.
Also, what's a good campsite in the Pt. Chivata to Loreto area that has good reef snorkeling and showers, as well as a good cantina/restaurant w/in
walking distance? Descent privacy would be a plus, too. Most of the campsites I've been looking into seem to be just a bunch of RV-ers packs on-top of

Shoot. We just drove through Mulege last week on the way back North and didn't have time to check Chivato out. It was on the list but had to get
scratched. We were curious as well.
We did see guys surveying the Gonzaga road though.

I really don't know about the camping now but forget about the hotel and restaurant and bar they will chase you away. for some reason they don't want
any business. the camping is separate now and another person handles it.

hehe ... I live in Ashland, Oregon. The area was first settled during the gold rush, and if you look at the old maps damn near every peak was named
"Breast Mountain." Must have been hundreds of "Breast Mountains" in the area. Guess that's what you get when you let a bunch of poor, lonely, horney
miners name the landmarks. I have to say, though, that one actually looks the part!

colin---Do not believe what bruce said about the hotel. I stayed there for three weeks last summer and it was very nice. The camping beach is $10dls
a night. This includes clean pit toilets, daily trash pickup and fresh water showers along with fresh water for your camping needs. It is a very
nice bug free beach with very good fishing and diving close by. The hotel makes good herradura margaritas that my girlfriend and I enjoyed many an
afternoon while sitting on the verranda watching the sun set. We had dinner there a few times and it was always very good. Hotel welcomed us with
open arms, even used the pool. fishin rich

Now, THAT would be a welcome change at Chivato.
When did you experience clean pit toilets at Chivato?
Don't get me wrong, I love the camping beach there.
