Keri you forgot to say when it is happening

bajajudy - 4-14-2005 at 01:04 PM

I believe that it is after the book signing on April 23 at Pyramid Resort

How much do these events cost?

Hook - 4-14-2005 at 02:39 PM

If anything?

David K - 4-14-2005 at 05:23 PM

I posted the GPS on my trip report from last Sunday's 4WD trip... we ended up at the Pyramid, then La Fonda Del Rio's for dinner.

OKAY: For the non-GPSer... Go Hwy. 1-D (Toll Road) between Rosarito and Ensenada (or use free road)... EXIT toll road at ALISTOS/LA MISION/PLAZA DEL MAR off ramp... one or more of those names will be at the exit. Go NORTH on the free road ONE KILOMETER to Plaza Del Mar entrance (by that pyramid)... near Km. 57. The Pyramid Resort is in there, follow signs that have you wiggle around a bit to the parking.

Come enjoy yourselves... Wine tasting and more! Meet Baja book authors, buy books, meet fellow Nomads (yup, I will be there)... I will be selling a Baja mission book for an author who was there last year, but suddenly had to move back east... they are already autographed: http://www.bajamission.com IF I can get some stickers, I will be giving those away as well...:D Doug (BajaNomad) and family was there last year.

How about supporting the Pyramid, and stay the night? Contact Keri. http://www.pyramidresort.com

That minature Aztec pyramid has been ther for 30 years I think... You'll remember it when you see it.
It is about a mile north from La Fonda/Hotel La Mision on the free road. Hope to finally meet you then!

Thanks David you answered better than I could

Keri - 4-14-2005 at 06:00 PM

Yep it's after the book signing and wine tasting. It's free but bring money to buy books and wine.Bring food. Bring tequila. Oh and that is for me not the event. Ok just kidding. The potluck always turns out great, everyone brings their best stuff. GeoRock is the best at doing a blind tequila tasting. and we all have a fantastic time. Come one, come all can't wait to meet some more Nomads in person, k bounce::spingrin::bounce:

Better than all of that everybody must bring that "Baja Feeling" like by Ben Hunter. I will be bringing a few books for the raffle--Baja Feeling by Hunter, The Grinning Gargoyle Spills the Beans by Don Jimmy Smith, There it is Baja, by Mike Mc Mahan AND even mine--Mi Baja No Hurry No Worry and Bouncing Around Baja.
AND MY FAMOUS CHICKEN Enchilada Pie.

AND the most beautiful woman in the world--my wife!--50 years this October 14th

How late will things go on the 23rd, Keri?

Hook - 4-14-2005 at 08:02 PM

I will be getting in around 5pm in the La Salina area. Will anything be going on or will I just be stepping over drunks?

Mike Humfreville - 4-14-2005 at 08:11 PM

Mary Ann and I will be spending Friday and Saturday nights (others as well I believe) so while the planned parts of the book signing may end fairly early, at least a few of us will be continuing into the evening. Hope to see you there.

Hook come on by ,

Keri - 4-15-2005 at 01:56 PM

Bring a dish for the potluck at 6:00 pm and a bottle of Tequila for the tequila tasting at 8:00 pm. Most of the authors will still be here and you can still buy some of their books,k :bounce::bounce::bounce:

Keri,

I can't believe my luck. We booked the weeeknd at your place a month ago and it's going to be at the same time as the party! I have read with envy in past years, of your book signing, tequila tasting, potlucks. And what good fortune that our trip to Baja coincides with this.

I keep hearing about this La Fonda Del Rio. Where is this place? It sounds like it is close to La Palapa Del Jose? Which is very close to La Mission and La Fonda. Can anyone help with instructions and comments about the food? What is good? How are the drinks? Ambiance? The Margartitas at La Fonda aren't too whoopy in my opinion. Best Margaritas that I've had, are in Rosarito at La Cazuella Del Mole (sp?). Just my .02.

Have you heard from Sonora Wind. Hope he is coming--he can really cook.

Read about my trip last Sunday in the Baja Trip Reports forum... gave exact directions to the La Fonda Del Rio's place... (it's next door to Hotel/Restaurant La Mision, but park on the street... La Mision doesn't want Del Rio's patrons to use their huge, empty parking lot.).

Potluck is shaping up.

Keri - 4-17-2005 at 10:11 AM

Please let me know what you are bringing. People keep calling and asking what to bring so they don't double up but I can't tell them. Come on you guys help me out here.
Bernie I hope Sonora wind is reading this . He promised me last year he would be here to cook.
John Lee. Del Rios in just below La Mision in their parking lot on the water. Great food. Same sort of thing as La Fonda. Should be ,as I hear it is a couple of the cooks from LaFonda.
I only have 3 rooms left. If you are going to want one do it now . See you all Sat. k:tumble::bounce::spingrin:

Keri,

Mike Humfreville - 4-17-2005 at 02:45 PM

We'll bring shrimp. Maybe Mary Ann will make a rice salad dish too.

Can't wait!

John Lee - 4-17-2005 at 03:25 PM

Keri,

You should already have a mini suite room for us. I reserved it a month ago (or more).

I'm going to bring my home made Taco Twist chili. It makes a wonderful dip so I plan on setting it out as such, with a bag of local chips. It's not easy to bring something al the way from Kansas. I just made a huge batch of it this afternoon and I will freeze a big container of it, double zip loc bag it and pack it in my check-on luggage. It will still be frozen when we arrive in Alistos/La Mission, where we'll put it in the room fridge.

Can't wait. I might take Capt'n Mike's suggestion on which Tequila to bring.
