Calexico East Pedestrian Location

BeachSeeker - 12-29-2023 at 10:12 AM

Does anyone have clear directions on how to get to the Calexico East Pedestrian crossing going North?

We have Sentri and are very familiar with how to get to the Calexico East Sentri lane. However, we will be travelling with two others that do not have Sentri and are thinking about dropping them off to walk across while we use the Sentri lane, then meetup on the U.S. side.

What I see driving to the border:
From the Sentri lane with all folks on board, stop at the main Mexican buildings and have the walkers cross at the crosswalk lane crossing to the right side of the standard lane to the sidewalk leading to the border.

To retrieve the walkers after passing the border. No clue sorry.
I guess there must be a return street to where the walkers exit the border check.
Good luck.

Where exactly is that crosswalk that goes to the ped line? Looking on Google maps, I can't really determine where pedestrians would even walk across the physical border wall. Is that a path between the car lanes and commercial truck lanes? Can pedestrians jump out right as it splits from 4 to 8 lanes, or should they jump out near the FMM building and walk from there? Thanks!

The photo attached shows what is the crosswalk Paul is referring to. It's probably 1/3 of a mile before the US Customs building, and right across from the Mexican Customs on the left. We've seen people dropped off much closer to the US Customs with just a K-rail to hop over. Once through Customs, they just walk about 1/4 mile north to a gas station, easily spotted on Google Maps - or - just follow the rest of the pedestrians - it's really the only way to go.

There is ongoing construction on the U.S. approach so things may change. we drove through a month ago and this is the way it was.

Thanks John
Two sidewalk crossovers. Both have the usual yellow strips. The one John shows is a vehicle and pedestrian crossover and has a stop controlled by a guard. The Crosswalk further is the one at the big speed control bumps. No guard.
No options to crossover further north. Fence between lanes and sidewalk are present at the real border and beyond where the guard wants to see you passport.
