World War 2 in Baja California (new page, new data)

Following our Ken Cooke led group trip to the WWII Pole Line Road, there was lots of interest in who built it and the other curiosity of America's actions in the peninsula with the building of airstrips, radar stations, roads, and telephone lines.

I just made a page on VivaBaja.com bringing the most interesting parts into view with links to their source on the Internet. Some of the websites are no longer online, but thanks to old Nomad posts with links, and to Web Archive, I am able to read the gone sites and post them to my new page.

One of the new findings is a paper by Dr. Michael Mathes, who many know for his many books about the missions and history of Baja California. In this paper, we have a clue as to who built the 1942 Pole Line Road:

In Baja California, regular troops and one thousand volunteer militia, all under orders from General Macias Valenzuela, were assigned to the construction of roads, telephones and telegraph lines, and gun emplacements. To serve as a command post and civil defense center, the Hotel Riviera del Pacifico in Ensenada was taken over as an emergency measure.
