Just South of Bajamar, looking down from the high cliffs into the sea, we noticed a number of large circles.
Looked a lot like some kind of fish containment area.
Anyone know if these are 'farm fishing' and if so what species of fish are in these containments.
And, do they seem to be successful... like sufficient to expand into more and more of same??

Thanks for the answers and for the reference to the previous thread on this subject. Somehow I missed it.
But I did go back and read it with great interest.
Guess I need to zap the searcher before I jump in the pool...
Interesting stuff, wish I could catch a $30,000 tuna.

If you are lucky enough to see it when they feed them and have a set of bino's handy......... WOW !!! Pretty cool.
At least one private boater per season has ran into one of those tuna pens every year. The ones south/southeast of south island has gobbled up a few
boats. They don't show up too great on the radar.
